Have a good ? for radios that you can put in a 2.4 modual does the type of radio matter for speed response? or is your response only as good as the 2.4 plug in modual is?
Another words say i am using a old FM ko propo mars radio with the new spektrum 2.4 pro modual would the response be the same as if i used the same modual in a ko propo mars R ...does the radio it's self effect speed response?

Decent 2.4g radio sets can be found for around $100

I wouldnt bother trying to upgrade your old set with a module that is likely to cost you just as much
