I have been running my Rears at 46 with no problems but I am using Pinks with rounded edges. And coming in with a podium finish everytime. But I do check my tires after each run and glue when they start to pull from the tire
Tire diameter is just another choice in your set up. Factory drivers run tiny tires because they nearly always run on very high bite surfaces and a large diameter tire distorts at the sidewall. Tiny tires are also lighter, letting you get down to that 730 g limit easier. Most of them also get their tires free, a larger tire definitely lasts longer if you watch for tread separatioon. If you run on a lower grip surface, a larger tire can add traction. You may want to run a bead of CA around the rim to add some sidewall stiffness and prevent chunking. Experimenting to find what works for you is part of the fun.

I use similar size rears and they work very well... can run them down even lower, the problem I have is with the front... If I run anything below 44 mm on the front the tires go to the rim by 6 minutes and I start understeering big time... I always had issues with fast wear on front tires...
We run on asphalt...
Also I know running larger tires slows the car in corners big time!!!

Hello all,
just getting back into the hobby and trying to figure out what would be the best tire combo for brushless lipo 1/12 on a low to moderate traction track. I think I used to run pink rears with lilac fronts but could be mistaken.

For 17.5, yellow or grey/low or orange (both are yellow with a strip of grey rubber on the edge) rears with black or magenta fronts are popular. I usually run black fronts with magenta rears.
13.5, 10.5 and mod, I like magenta all around. 2x pink front, pink rear is also popular.
Yeah it will really depend on the track but pink rears usually work very well. I would get a set of magentas and yellows (or grey low/orange) to try out as well.
For front, get a set of blacks, magentas and double pinks to try out.
Some combo of those should work on 90% of tracks. If you are used to lilac fronts, you will probably need to take some dual rate out of the steering to settle the car down but this is a good thing.

If you load the MOD Firmware, boost will even be disabled, and that's for a reason!....
