I think it would be more better to take Caliber tires for d8t.. just an opinion.. i haven't experience badlands wheels on d8t..

"street or track" is not going to work. Why would you buy a Truggy to drive it on the street? To get it set up like it's supposed to be, it's going to cost you a good $8-$1200.
For "bashing" the D-8 will hang in with the best of anything. Any 1/8th scale Truggy/Buggy will out last almost anything "bashing".. Anyone that says bashing is harder on a RC has never raced before. In racing you beat on every single part in a more controlled manner for sometimes 8-20 MIN at a time, multiple times a day.
"Bashing" you hit a 8ft jump and bust a A-arm, woo hoo.....

Being able to finish a race is the key to being able to win obviously. If your rig is not up to snuff, you lose. You could be the best driver in the world but if it's not dialed in, you just wasted good fuel and rubber. Point is, they make these knowing they will have to take a TRUE beating and the owners KNOW they have to keep them in top running condition to win.
To answer your question, YES it would be a good "basher".. Would I use one to "bash" with, hell no. Even though it will out last anything "bashable" If I bought one it would be for racing.
rant over......

If your going to buy a D-8 or anything, buy it from here. PM me and I'll send you a coupon code.
It's cheaper then any link posted too before the coupon code.

I bought my hellfire used and it was allready upgraded in all the weak areas.
So far i`ve busted 2 A-arms and one outdrive (during 2-3 gallons of fuel). It handles great like all truggys, out performing any MT.
I`d say that for bashing Hellfire is a great choice.
Here`s why:
1. It is no longer a competitive racing truggy - that means lots of used cars can be found cheap on ebay, forums, etc. Possibly great deals on new ones as well.
2. Like other 1:8 truggys, it`s stronger than most MTs.
3. Like other 1:8 truggys, it handles a lot better than MTs. Driving is more precise and fun.
Yes, new truggies like D8 or 8ight 2.0 are better in every way but for bashing these are overkill. They are designed for high level racing and it seems a total waste to buy one for bashing only.
I got mine very cheap and a truckload of spare parts with it. The thing I dislike most is the complicated design compared to new truggies, it takes more time to change a part. Quite annoying during a race day.
But because of all the spares I`m gonna drive mine at least this full season.

You guys are scaring me. I am set to go see a Hellfire tomorrow. The guy is asking $125 It is complete and doesn't look beat to hell. He says it won't start, but when he sprays cleaner into the back plate it starts sometimes, so I am assuming it just needs a new one way bearing, or I could skip the rotostart and use a bump box. Seems like an awesome deal to me. Should I still run away from a 125 dollar truck that will just be bashed in my backyard?

ya man like he said, id get rid of that engione anyways, and get a lrp .28 or lrp .30x and for under 170 u can do that, so u would only hae paid 300 for the whole thing, thats not bad at all
