Nope. The car is box stock except for dampers. I was using a TT-01 heat sink that covers a good portion of the motor. This helped a little compared to my first run with no heat sink at all. I've got another, more open heat sinkon the way with a fan attached that I hope will alleviate this a bit.

Is that a 540 motor, and if so are you covering the cooling vents on the motor with the heat sink?

Yeah, 540 silver can. The vents are covered more by the gearbox than by the heat sink. It is something I thought of. Never gave it much weight though. I guess we'll see what happens when the more open and cooled unit arrives.

The one I've ordered is a Yeah Racing piece. Costs around $5 US. hopefully the fan will last more than one race day.

I've always found the same. Clip-on heatsinks seem to cause more heat problems than they solve.

Nice thing about the M06 is that the rear sway bar mounting brackets above the motor are perfectly spaced for attaching a 30x30 fan.

Anyone know if the Alpine body fits on the M03?

Alpine body is short wheelbase = 210mm.

If you have stock M03, wheelbase is a match. However, the front end of M03 such as steering servo mount is pretty tall so it might hit the body.

If your LHS is not too far, try test fit the body on your M03 chassis if they have the body in stock.

The weight difference between dc fan unit and motor heatsink won't be too much, fan cools the motor better.

Does anyone have a good starting setup for a M-03 and m-05 on carpet?

I don't change my settings on my car when I go from asphelt to carpet, only the tyres and ride height. I use the Tamiya M grips with the black Tamiya hard insert.

My starting setup on carpet with M-05 (briefly)...

- GET THE CAR TO RUN IN A STRAIGHT LINE! For me that meant high torque servo saver, aluminium steering posts and shims. I also took out the bumpsteer with a spacer on the upright.

- Tyres - Sweep 25 all round, glue sidewalls of fronts.

- Shocks - CVA super mini, blue short spring front, yellow short spring rear, #600 oil front, #500 oil rear (makes no difference on these dampers)

- Ride height - arms just below level front, arms level rear, allow a tiny bit of droop.

- Drivetrain - M-05 ball diff set tight (but not locked), UJs.

- Weight - 1300gm (rules)

- Body - Abarth 500 (225mm).

Car is good... got it running well just in time to strip it apart to build an Xevo!

Oh, and all 3 cars ran TA03 ball diffs..

For install TA03 diff in M05 should we change or add anything?
