I would reccomend the #5 for cold indoor racing. That's what we will be running at CRCRC. As for break in, just start it on the box and get a rich tune on it, then do figure eights in a parking lot for about 3 tanks or so. After that run it rich on the track for a few tanks, then keep it on the rich side for about half a gallon. After that you can safely race tune.

It doesnt have ceramic bearings, I allready took it apart.Its still is a great deal it has the new carb on it and good craftmanship and the head is not small than any other orion engine.Its on the orion website.All the info you need to know.

Thanks for the info guys.. If this had a ceramic like stormer is advertising I would be on it.. But I will also agree it is a smoking deal still yet.. Still torn between this and the Werks B5. Leaning more toward the Orion Discovery..

the specs from horizon also say ceramic bearings, but the parts breakdown shows a part number for a non ceramic. Im thinking its non ceramic.

Yea that is odd. We took the phase ceramic bearings out of the description.

Orion doesn't mention ceramic... we'll go with their description for now.

Hi Guys. I'm really sorry about the confusion on this engine. I asked about this and have been told that it has steel bearings. I'm not sure why some of the internet descriptions indicate ceramic, but I have alerted the marketing guys and I'm sure they will correct it.

All that being said, it's a great engine. You can win any race on earth with this engine and it's in the low 200 range. If I was in the market to buy an engine, this is what I would get without even thinking about it. I'm really surprised about the new carb is included with insert and turbo button, very impressive. I can tell you this is one of the best carburetors available today. Adrien put his effort into this carburetor and it shows.

blaze.. I can't see very well from your picture, but I think if you inspect it carefully you will see that the bearings are steel. It's really hard to tell because the cage is black and it reflects off the bearings and makes them look black as well.

We sold out of these engines quickly but at $179, that's what happens. I was wanting to get one for myself but it didn't happen. Hopefully they will be in stock soon.

We're tied in with Horizon pretty good so I don't see an issue.

man I seen stormer has the discover on order with a pipe for 250ish. Thats a smoking deal and proably will be my next engine.

could some one please help me here,i am new to this so have patience. for example i read that there was an engine named brand A but made by novarossi but it has brand A'S name on it not novarossi why is that? that should be a novarossi engine. example number 2..... how do you know which engine companies are the best? example italian, japanese, taiwan, german, or if there is such a thing a u.s. made engine hhow do we know how to differ and what to purchase. me my self i love the ferrari which is made in italy so i would pick the number one italian engine maker.please help all this engine stuff is making my head spin!

There are several plants that make engines for different people. OS (Japan) does OEM stuff (Ninja) and LM (Italy) does several, Orion, Werks, etc. The plant manufactures the engines, but in many cases, they are unique. For example Team Orion is doing new things that haven't been done in the past. Their new carburetor is a result of the hard work of Adrien Bertin, as well as the new porting configurations, head buttons, materials, etc.

All that being said, the Italian engines are very good quality. They have the materials and machining capabilities to make very high quality engines. Japan also has access to the high quality materials, and their manufacturing is very good. Taiwan and China, although they are improving, they still don't quite do it the same way, and I have been told they don't have access the the materials (high silicon content aluminum for example) that they have in these other countries. It's just not possible or feasible for them to get it. The engine would cost double what they currently charge just because of the expense of getting the material.

To make it simpler for you, just buy something that says "Team Orion" on it, because then you know it's made in Italy, the effort is in it by the factory to make a quality product, and it has the World Champion pedigree to give you performance.

@pit pop thanx i will do that.one more question for pit pop or anyone else wh wants to chime in.say i buy that world champion orion engine,and it is made by the best i'm sure why take it apart and seal the carburator and back plate? after paying that amount for one of the best engines in the world it should come sealed already until you get ready to tear it down to rebuild it. i believe although a rookie at this,i believe you would be messing something up that is perfectly perfect.does a ferrari need to be worked on when you first purchase it? not....so why mess with a work of art like the orion,novarossi,werks etc?
