I am having trouble breaking in my new spec. I can get it to start but when I give it throttle it dies out. I have all the needles set according to the manual. High speed at 2.5 turns out, low speed .5 mm out from flush, mid needle at flush, and idle is 1 mm. Any suggestions?

I would go flush top and bottom needles and turn your idle a little high because its ganna be very fat for break in. Also pre heat engine always before trying to start. Use a blow drier or anything to get it to around 170 then fire it up. If box has trouble starting then back plug off just a little then one it starts tighten plug back up. Best bet though is start flush idk why o.s. says turn it out from flush but flush is normally always where companies have you start and it wont hurt to do so in the vspec. Very good engines btw.

also leave the ignitor on for a bit wont hurt

I have broken in a few V-specs. You need to get them good and hot before you try to crank them. I usually shoot for at least 180. And your going to need a higher idle for the first couple tanks. After a few tanks it will start to loosen up and it will need a little less idle to keep it running. Make sure you keep the temps up while running the first few tanks. It has been cold here so I wrap tin foil around the head to keep some temp in the head.

If you have the money around 100 bucks I would highly recommend a competition engine heater it will make life so much easier
