AXE ROSSI Engine thread.....

Qlder on 04-04-2005, 02:16 AM, you posted the following:
have just received some Axe Rossi LSK and Speed 1 Buggy motors and so far after a couple of race meetings are very happy with them. We have used Rossi Black Magics for the last couple of years and although powerful they seemed a little difficult to tune.
So far the newer models have been extremely reliable and easy to tune as well. The LSK seems to be a match for any buggy motor on the market at the moment.
Has anyone tried them and had any issues with them ? I think Trinity import them into US...??
Regards Brad... Australia.
So, I guess, you have had your hands on both at the same time. You
would know.
Have a good day.
BTW, Why so expensive to get a rear bearing for these engines??
Thanks

The LSK has a 6 bolt head like the Cobra, the Speed has a 4 bolt head like the Sport, Serpe and the RAL engines from a few years back. From memory the Speed had a integral combustion chamber with the heatsink..
I agree that the best looking buggy engine ever is the Black Magic, but the best engines Axe produced were the Gold Head 198 Cobra with a turbo button. A few years ago I think they were the equal of any engine available for buggies. Then the conrod issues started

This was the motor that got me Hooked on Axe Rossi and the new Cobra X2 is just as good as a motor i have one that has 6 gallons on it and running strong.

Well, I put my LSK back into service this weekend to just see what she would do.
Well, I am glad to report, the engine has a ton of bottom end believe it or not.
I am using the Rossi expansion pipe with the adjustment nut in the middle between the manifold and the actual pipe.
Tons of bottom end
, Wheel spinning as a matter of fact. But....

Not much on the top end. I wend up against a guy who just got a new Werks B6 and he walked my nitro buggy and as a matter of fact, he also walked my
Electric buggy as well.
(Electric buggy is another topic..
Should have left the 2650 in. Stupid fast, but, no one could touch the sheer speed.
Anyway. I was for the most part happy. But, I could not get the tires to
hook. Almost like too much torque.
Anyway.
LSK ran great. No flame outs, no issues. I have about 3-4 gallons on it.
The connecting rod isn't as tight as I think it should. So, I am keeping an eye on it. No back and forth action on TDC, but, just feels alittle warn.
Does anyone know if the turbo head from the Mamba will work and if there any advantages to running a turbo plug/head??
Thanks
Also, I owned a black magic for some time and I was actually scared of it.
I kinda equated it to being the (for those who remember Speed racer) GRX.
Sinister, Mysterious. Well, I still believe it even thought I have run it.
Where is the V-GAS.

Hey. Anyone got any Ideas as to how I can find an air leak??
After coming up to temp (190) or so, I the engine idles up and stays there.
Not fun. IF you really blip on it, it will stay higher. Comes down after you
let the engine sit for about 20 seconds.

what are your currend setting????
for air-leak test you can blow air threw a long fuel tube in the fuel intake. cover carb air intake and exhaust outlet with fingers or caps and use a small bucket of water
if no leaks are found heat engine with heat gun and retest.
to be safe from the start use rtv hight temp sealent on carb, carb holder nut "both sides" and backplate.
hope this helps

Well, Here is what I have done.
I have 2 engines that are doing this. (had)
First, my RB WS7 did it. Now we find it is a linkage / throttle issue.
This is in the same car, same fuel tank.
Pressure tested tank and have not found any leaks.
No leaks from front bearing. (No oily residue anywhere.
Back plate and carbs have been sealed.
I'll post needle settings.
Funny, both seem to be running o.k. now.
I replaced fuel tubing, but, prior, I could not find a leak.
I suspect it's a linkage issue. Still trying to find it though. (to confirm)

All My Axe Motors have some Fuel residue around the front bearing. Even my new Motors after a couple of runs i think its just how Axe Rossi motors are Like all Harley's Leak Oil
.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
No leaking Harley.
My Harley doesn't leak.
Maybe because I don't have any oil in it..

Well, I will only purchase nova rossi bearings or TKO.
No Protek bearing for me. I have a few of them and the leak after 1 tank of fuel.

But hands down
BOCA BEARINGS are the best they do cost
$$
$$ but worth it

Hi. I have what's left of an Axe Rossi Mamba EV1.
I am wondering if it is worth trying to rebuild or should just get another engine completely and if so, what are these parts worth..
I kinda think I should look into purchasing a new one.
the case is warped. Go figure. Old issue, piston seized in the sleeve and
could not get it out. (Piston and sleeve) What a fight. So I know I need
another block, piston/sleeve/con rod. (Rod actually looks and measures
o.k.
