Talking Removing sleeves.

The suggestion to be careful is a must.

Do this and any suggestions at your own risk.

1. Use a ziptie.
2. If 1 doesn't work (sheers through it, ) use 2.
3. Don't use a hammer.
4. Don't use a screw driver.
5. Don't use anything to hammer out the sleeve from with in the engine.
6. If you get the sleeve to move, you can use a flat blade screw driver
gently on the top to help pry the sleeve out. (Gently)
6.5. Find someone with a Sleeve puller.
Here is where it gets tricky.

7. You can try to heat the case in an over. (Use welding gloves) the
sleeve should slide out easily (20 minutes in pre heated 400 degree oven)

8. IF this doesn't work, I would suggest calling the MFG and getting advice
from them.

9. Check to see if there is any kind of warranty on the engine before proceeding.

10. IF all else fails. IF all else flails. IF all else fails.

Check that puppy up in a mill. (Lite as possible so yo don't distort the case)

Mill the sleee out.

I had a sleeve that I have tired everything you can imagine on it to get it out.

None of the above worked.

Milled it out (took 2 hours going really slow to make sure not to damage the
block)

Later I found out that the engine case was warped. (dont' know how or why)
and I found that the engine was under warranty.

I lost out. There was no fixing what was warped. A new sleeve would not

fit in the block. It would not fit unless you forced it and I was not about to

do that.

Of course this is the worse case situation but, if you get to the last items

mentioned, call the mfg and let them deal with it.

Wink

I never understood heating the engine up to get the case out! The reason is because the case is aluminum and the sleeve is brass! The brass expands when it gets hot, where the case does as well but nowhere as much as the sleeve, so to me that would be the opposite thing you would do. I always freeze my engine overnight and the sleeve slides right out. The sleeve will shrink where the case will not. Making it extremely easy to pull it out. Heating may work but for me freezing works better. Just my 2cents!
