you can make it easier to come out by heating the case with heat gun then use zip tie stick it in the exhaust port and up and out the top then turn crank this should pop the sleeve up enough so you can get it out some times you have to put the square end of the zip tie in the exhoust port to push it up if this does not work then i dont know this is how i get all of mine out

piece of paper towel rolled up, stuck through the exhaust port, and rotate the crank, it will crate a bind and push the sleave up so you can get ahold of it.

I use the same method using zip ties :-) Works like a charm.

Zip tie method works pretty well. If you know someone with a GRP engine tooling kit, they include a sleeve puller that works like a charm.

Default great ideas

I use a chopstick. then grab the crank with a pair of pliers, where the threads are, and gently turn it, just until it pops up a small enough ammount to gently pry it with a flat blade screwdriver, with chopstick removed....

A sleeve puller sounds great. Won't need it often, but when you do, it would be the safest way....

why would you put pliers on your crank?...and on the threads of all places....just keep your flywheel on and use a glow plug wrench on the flywheel nut to turn the crank! and then anything plastic that will fit inside the exhaust port!

I always heard that pushing it up with the back of a toothbrush handle works pretty good to pry it up. I would assume no damage, but that is how a few of my buds do it.

You really need to take extra care with removing sleeve from case with prying thru exhaust port with zip tie or anything else, as I see many with sleeve damages requiring repairs. On the more stub urn cases that sleeve just does not seem to give, I suggest first preheating case (remove the carb) in oven approx 250F thru 300F for 15 minutes or so. If preheating with doubled up zip tie method does not free sleeve, you have the option to ship engine case to me. I use a sleeve extracting tool (designed and made by me) that drives from the sleeve complete bottom area. Once the case assembly is preheated it takes me just a few minute to complete disassembly. Provided to my repeat customers as a courtesy extra free service.
