The Havoc 2S ESC and motor contain Thermal Overload Protection circuitry to protect the system from overheating and damage. In fact, the ESC will only operate with brushless motors that have built-in thermal protection that follow ROAR guidelines, such as Novak’s Ballistic Spec Brushless Motors (#3610-#3621) and SS Pro Brushless Motors (#3408 - #3421). This sophisticated feature ensures a fun day at the track without the worry of overheating.

On one of my 10.5 I acquired from my friend, he snipped the blue line on the sensor wire. It still works just fine. I am using a GTB. Your saying that it should not run? I know it is not ideal, but I got the motor pretty cheap.

The GTBs do not have this thermal overload protection; our Havocs--1S, 2S and 3S---have this feature to prevent esc damage if the motor is over-heated. A burnt motor stator or demagnetized rotor could damage a GTB.

Just to clarity, our GTBs work fine with the blue wire unplugged or cut---this sensor wire detects the motor temp, but the GTB will not shut down if the motor overheats.
Our first GTBs---many, many years ago
---had thermal protection, but racers hated it and simply removed/cut the blue wire, so we removed the circuitry from this esc.
