yes any 40mhz would work on the 40mhz module. Just need to get the same brand of crystal for the receiver.

i.e sanwa receiver with sanwa receiver crystal.

I can second that.
I've got a tiny KO Propo 40Mhz receiver with my Futaba system, and it works great. You may have to swap from PCM on the transmitter, but you won't notice the difference on the car.

I've not been able to mix crystals like that, it seems to only work if you use a TX and RX crystal mde by same company.

I have a 3PK and run ppm and pcm setups. I also have a 2.4Ghz module and run a few like that as well, all ppm.

Yes, when I'm running in ppm mode, I don't have a failsafe. Thats the reason the only cars I use it in are 18th scales.

Are you running nitro or elec? Nitro its easier to deal with, can add a separate failsafe. Elec there's not really a good answer besides having the failsafe builtin to the rcvr.

Its always good to have a failsafe to prevent from a runaway car. If the rx doesn't have one u can always add an external one

What i meant was to have the same freq. The Tx should be on Futaba xtral always but if you're going to use a sanwa rx u'll need the rx xtral for sanwa.
