Considering trying some Hitecs, but find it a little confusing following the model numbers and pricing 
For example, why is this servo $50 cheaper than others, other than steel gears, it's specs seem as good if not better than some of the others

So, after years of JR servos in my Losi 8T 2.0, and after reading how so many people like Hitec servos, I brought 2 7950s. Well Friday I got to the track and started wrenchin on my stuff when I cranked down the servo arm, the screw broke in the output gear. One thing I like about racing in Colorado is that the racers here and very helpful and when it come down to it, they will do everything they can to help you get running. Because I was running HV servos, I did not have a lot of people to ask for help, in the end, some one let me borrow a HV servo to get me through the weekend.
So Monday I got online to buy a new gear set for the 7950 but now one sells them. So I called Hitec and ask them for a gear set. The guy said they dont sell gear sets for theses servos because they never get the servos back that has broken gears. so after explaining to him that it was my fault bla bla, he shipped me new gears. FREE.
I thought this was great service. From now on its HITEC servos for me.

The 7940, 7950 and new 7945 are the TOP of the line Hitec's. The 7955 is the tired and true Hitec that is super tough and super popular. The 7954 is a 7955 with steel gears to cut costs... nothing else. I personally say avoid the 7954. If that's the one you're liking, just get a 7955 and you'll have the same servo with better gears.
He borrowed my old 7955's and made the 30 min main.
Im a huge Hitec fan but kinda disapointed that those 2 burned up so fast. EPA's were set perfect aswell..

The 7954 is inferior to the same cost ACE 1015? I've been using ACE for the last 3 years, with a year on unreg LIPO, and just recently burned out 2 1313's, but the 1015's are still performing flawlessly (now running on LIFE).
Just considering my options, not looking for any ACE bashing, just want to know that I will get the same performance from an equally priced servo.

Servo Output Gear Hitec 7950TH
You guys know if you can just replace the output shaft gear on the hitec 7950? The knotches on the output gear that the servo horn sits in are a little beefed up after some use and it is a son of a gun to seat new servo horns (especially metal ones). This also adds to stripping new ones. I'm calling Hitec CS tomorrow, just was wondering if you had some tips or knew if this was even possible. I've never cracked a servo open before and gear sets that I find on fleabay for this servo do not seem to include the servo output gear. Thanks for your help.
