Most Lipos can be charged at 2C perfectly fine, almost every brand now says 2C is acceptable, my SMCs advertise up to 3C(18A) but it may decrease the lifespan, but they say even 2C (10A) is perfectly fine. The carpet guys are who you have to worry about, they stuff them in warmers and charge at like 20 amps...

The Cactus Classic looks pretty cool. If I could drive worth a damn I'd definitely be interested in going. Plus I have no idea what class I'd run.

Oh, my 4wd is in the mail. =)

What's it doing in the mail??

I guess we're building up a 4wd class for the fall, huh?? NICE

I'm in the process of reducing my collection, building my VONATs racers, and saving up for an upcoming vacation.

I'll be racing Wednesday, and doing some testing with my RC10.

Well see, the thing I'm concerned with is lifespan. Safety too. How long it takes to charge a Li-po; I don't care. All I'm concerned with is safety and lifespan. By the way that Li-po was made back in early '08 or somewhere, back when all there was was charging at 1C or letting it die at anything higher. My Orion will not mind a 2C, but I prefer to put it at 1.

By the way, about how many runs would it take off if it's charged at 2C or more?

Nobody could put a number on that. The pack still works fine, so leave it as is. No harm, no foul.

Dude your waaaaay overthinking this. For example if you get 1,000 charges , and decreased your lifespan by 100, can you even tell? Do you know how many charges you have now? Don't worry about it. It's fine. I'm still runnin on the dame batteries from almost 2 years ago and they get charged 2amps higher than their rating.

As I said, the OEM actually advertises that 2C is safe, meaning it won't reduce the lifespan. If it was at all dangerous in any way they wouldn't dare advertise to do it for liability, they say if you go up to 3C it may start retarding the lifespan, but otherwise 1C/2C is fine. I'm not saying you have to go charging your batteries at high rates or anything, just don't get scared when someone else is or try to tell them they're doing something wrong. I would say leaving your batteries at the proper voltage when not in use and keeping them balanced will do a lot more to keep them lasting longer than charging them at 2C, but that's just my opinion.
