LOL, I wish a humid day was 50-60% humidity. We just had a couple of days in the 90%+ humidity range. 98% humidity yesterday morning.

I feel your pain. We where in the 90% range past couple days. I remember playing outside in it when I was a kid, now just trying to break in a motor has me fealing like I ran 10 miles.

There is no way it was too lean it temped at 200,the engine was predetonating.I've been racing nitro for 12 years and can tune an engine with the best of them.I'm just warning those that want to remove a head shim do so at your own risk.Mine already started pitting the piston and button from predetonation.

Ya right now we have 24% humidity. Maybe thats why my engines always seem to do pretty decent on run times.

How many shims did your engine come with stock ? reason I ask is that we have removed shims from at least 40 of these JL engines and not a single one has detonated...the stock compression ratio is quite low with the standard shimming and there would be no harm whatsoever removing a shim...However that is if they all come with the exact same shimming....

Thumbs up

I want to send a THANKS out to Neal and all the Clockwork family for talking me through a problem at the AMS last weekend. I had waited to long to salvage a decent finish then but,all the tips paid off 10 fold this past weekend at the RCPRO TENNESSEE CHAMPIONSHIPS. Again...Thanks!

Mine has 3 shims in it,but they look rather thick compared to other engines.I didn't measure them but am going to say they aren't the standard .1mm shims.

Most come with 4 x 0.3 mm shims , but 3 x 0.3 is closer to where it should be... and if he had 3 x 0.3 mm and attempted to remove a shim I could definitely see having detonation issues...... How his came is actually how they should be IMO, but most come with another of those 0.3 mm installed which really lowers the compression

Sloppy con rod bushing letting the piston beat
on the head button? I ran my Clocked JL this past
weekend. It was hot and humid, just friggin nasty
outside. While others were twistin needles and poppin
glowplugs, The JL ran just fine. It sure did piss off the
guys with the hi-dollar engines.

Wooooohooooo, my Clockworks JL just showed up. I can't wait to get it strapped into my Hyper 8.5 Latemodel Neal gave it a little extra for me, seeing as I don't need to make good fuel mileage Hopefully I'll get to race it this weekend and post back with some results

And on a second note....anyone know what other carb besides the RB K9 will fit the JL? Just nosey and would like to know....
