Well thats just smart marketing the losi lipos fit perfect. Losi wants you to buy everything from them, thats why the new titanium, stuff and watch for truggy tires very soon I bet. I do like their buggy tires. Its almost all I run unless I need a small pin and then I use gridirons.

Nothing at all wrong with the losi lipo. They are very good IMO. I have 3. But it would be nice to be able to use other packs. A lot of guys are starting to use the LIFE packs now because you can use them unregulated even with any servos/receivers. That isn't an issue for me because I run spektrum receivers and Hitec HV servos. But for a lot of guys, running a LIFE pack is easier/cheaper than buying stuff that can handle unreg. lipo or running a glitch fest regulator.

I was doing a quick run today and the steering servo went out in a big way. The truck started to become a little twitchy and didn't make turns well. I brought it in and changed the hump pack since the voltage dropped to around 5v (didn't think it was a big deal) and then restarted it and went out again. Luckily I stayed in the fenced area of my yard. The truck spontaneously went full throttle and into my patio set.
When the steering servo is plugged in the throttle goes wide open and the steering twitches. This is with two different receivers.
I am debating on getting a hv hitec for it but would likely not run it with a lipo right away and use a 6v hump pack for a little while.

I was on the phone with Losi support to get the servo replaced (even though I am replacing it with a non losi servo). We tried different combinations of servos plugged in including the ones on the truck and others I have and it consistently messed up when the Z650 on the truck was plugged in. Then all of a sudden things went fine and I havn't been able to reproduce the glitch.
Its on record with the support people but I hesitate to use that servo considering what it did last time.

You can't really take the ribs off the bottom, because of the screw lug incorporated into them. The old 8ight 1.0 tray didn't have the ribs. It only had the screw lug, and it didn't provide any more room than the 2.0 box does with the ribs.
What we really need is a taller/bigger battery lid. I see no reason for the tiny size of the losi lids. I'm sure they could have made them much larger. I'm actually surprised there aren't any aftermarket lids sold that are larger. I'm sure if someone made one, it would sell like crazy.
The losi lipo and standard nimh hump packs fit fine with the included lids, but that is about all that will fit. Even the losi lipo is a very tight fit. You can find low mah lipos that fit too, but most want at least 1500 mah in a pack.
OK done with my little rant. IMO the problem is not the box, but the lid.
