I dont know if I do wanna go to the track with it. 3 plugs fault out over 1 qquart of fuel?? Something is not right. I was at 3/4 turn from close low and 1 turn out from close high, and it still was spitting fuel like it was super rich. 1 tank went in 3 mins of bench testing. I do not wanna try to tune this or try to get her going. To me there is something wrong with the carb. It was fine, I mean fine, perfect last weekend. Plug change. Now this!! And now I think My engine is on its way because it lost compression and the pinch that it had.
Not to happy with these plugs I got from Tower, and the issues that is caused.
Called Steve. No answer. Left a message. Was hoping he could help. He was the one who told me how to tune it and where to start. he was right on, now Im stuck in the mud

Psycob4,
I had this same problem. I was burning through plugs like it was cool with my first SS. Turned out i had an exhaust leak right where the header attaches to the motor. My rubber gasket had worn out. Check that, and if you can, seal up your motor with some engine sealant. I did that to my next two SS's and I haven't had a problem at all. I hope you can get this fixed, i know how frustrating this can be. Don't give up!

Well Again Track testing day #2: Failure!!!

Brand new glow plug #3 today. Still Engine does not idle, stay running, or keep tune. It is spitting fuel and burning fuel like no other. Settings are the same as last time I wrote. I bought 2 Plugs from Tower and they are 97T. They both went in 5 tanks each. I dont know why or what is going on. Now I lost some Compression to from this. I couldnt turn it over at all really by hand, and now it is a little easier. My buddy could not believe his eyes either. He has seen this Mil run and go strong. I dont know what happened or why this is going on. But I am very upset that I cannot race this weekend. little happy I didnt go away and race this past weekend. Would have been a long time wasted. Well Dont know what to do from here. Try another plug maybe? I just dont know. Stuck, confused, and most of all worried.

Im sending in to Steve. I need to let him take a look. I already lost Compression today that I didnt want to or need to lose. I rather a pro take a look and let me know what is going on.

this last weekend I was at the track and had a pretty good tune, maybe a little rich on bottom! but the problem was, when I brought it in to get the temp.... I was running in between 270 and 290 through out the day!! the temps outside was close to 85 degrees and I am using Byrons 30/11 with a 97T. would the outside temps effect it that much? When I saw that the temps were high I richened the high about an hour and had very noticeable loss in performance so I leaned back out.
I had about 1/2 gal through the motor before the race. Is the high temps normal for this mil? I had to send this motor in for repairs under warranty and just got it back with a new piston/sleeve. I did break in by the book.
Should I be worried about the temps? or just I continue to tune for performance? Any opinions would be great!!

Really I have no idea why it was running so high! during practice all week my pit man was saying that I would stay around 200 - 220, but then at the race it when i checked the temp, it was closer to what I said before.

I have pretty thick smoke when on the throttle. I richened the top, only an hour or two and had a noticeable drop in performance!! I did the same on the low end and ended up moving it back because of the performance. It felt like it was way too rich and had really bad performance.

plus the only real accurate gauges are the real expensive ones. for example my losi tempsure and my duratrax flashpoint had completely different readings
where as my friend with the $250 industrial infrared gauge was consistent the entire time.

I'm using an Exergen temp gun by the way...
