The Smart diff seems like it would be cool, but they really don't help with anything. From my experience at least. I really didn't like the SD although I only have run the center. The truck just feels more consistent with the standard diff IMO.
Anyway Frank, give the standard diffs a try and see how you feel about it.

The standard diffs are best on a smooth track with med to high bite. The Smart diffs work best on bumpy or loose tracks with low to med bite.
I usually switch them based on what tracks I'm running at.

) and I didn't mess around with it's setup at all. Just packed it with grease and ran it. Pulled it out after about 5 minutes, went back to my standard diff and haven't looked back since. But some buddies of mine ran theirs for longer and tried many different greases/fluids with it as well as different spring combos, and the result was the same as mine.

Yep that is how I feel about it too. Seems like it stays locked too long for my driving style. Now to be fair, I only ran it a very little bit before pulling it out(because of how bad it was

The standard diff has a bit less off power steering, but no high speed push. On high traction tracks, the standard diff is all I will run. It's much more responsive with throttle input.

I must say, I really enjoyed the SD this past weekend, first time I used it. I did however use 2 x 20 springs and 2 x 15 springs. I had no push at all, great drive out the corners and awesome turn in. Perhaps if you guys used heavier springs it would help with the diff unlocking quicker? I could accelerate much earlier than I could with the standard diff and no push at all out of corners under power.
I will be doing back to back tests in the next couple of weeks, just to check the difference.

I found the same as most have mentioned with the smartdiff
they work great on a loose and loamy track. but on a track with a little traction they have a lot of push
i run them fulltime in the center of the buggy with 4x.020 springs and they work great but even on a loose track i dont see a massive advantage with them in the truggy. im just as fast with the stock diffs

mabe it had to do with driving styles... i increased my lap times with out the sd on any track i went to...
on loose tracks i still run the stock diffs and compensate with doing tthings to setup etc..and im fine.
