Quickshot23 The Losi XXX-XXXT shocks are bulletproof and almost leakproof. Very adjustable with many pistons and spring rates. Fill em and forget them for the season. If you are going to race at a track they might have strick shock rules. I have 2 slash 2wd and I wish I could run losi shocks. Aluminum shock caps is all we can change. The bladders swell and blow out and no more fluid. I am now seaching for a gasket to replace the bladder part. I have all types of Losi vehicles and all their shocks are their best attribute.

Not worth the extra coin. Go with the losi shocks.

If you want power and not fry your 12T motor use the stock 86 spur and 18-19 pinion. The stock slash comes with 18 and 23 and most stick the 23 in and fry the motor fairly quick.
All tracks are different so thats a loaded question.

I just jumped over from Titan 12T to the Novak Havok ROAR approved 17.5 spec racing burshless motor. I started with 21/90, motor and ecs was nice and cool and obviously wanted more. so i put in 23/86, and still seems to want more.
23/86 is 10.17 FDR, Novak says they suggest starting at a FDR as low as 7.5!
im pretty confused and need experienced advise on what gear combo i need to buy for my truck.
This is a spec racing setup so it needs to pass qualification too.

rear camber -2.0
front camber -1.0
front toe -.05
shocks 60 wt all around
front shocks in outter position
rear shocks in second from outside hole
86 spur 18 pin
also turned the tires around so the treads are backwards believe it or not it helps with traction.
i also loosened up the slipper a little more than it was stock so it wouldnt slide around on me when coming around the turns hope this helps
i think this is a pretty forgiving set-up

I don't have a specific set up, but it will involve some shock limiters inside the shocks and shock oil fro 80-100 wt depending on the height of the jumps. I've seen other drivers running their Slashes really slammed down with very little shock action, but we had no or very low jumps. Limiting body roll is a key.

I am running my slash pretty much stock. I have changed the motor and ESC and shock oils but thats about it.
(hobbyking) turnigy ESC advanced timng to max 26.5
ballistic 10.5 stock timing at 30
86spur/22pinion
40F/50R
front shocks in stock lower holes (inner)/smallest spacer
rear shocks in 2nd from the end(closest to wheels)largest and mid spacer
1deg toe in in front/-2 camber
-2.5 camber in rear
The tracks I run on have large jumps so thats why I went stiff in the rear to stop bottoming out. Also they usually water the track before heats so it becomes high traction clay.
This setup has worked very well for me so far with very little traction roll.
I am planning on moving the front shocks to outer holes and I am thinking of putting in thicker front oils because I am still getting a little to much chassis roll when I enter a corner a little to fast.
here is a video of the truck with the setup without the changes I want to make. At about 9mins the camera zooms in so you can see the front suspension react on entering corners. I get marshalled a bunch in this video so bare with it. High winds that day and just me driving like crap. I did take 3rd though. They were racing 4x4 with 2wd that day so those really fast trucks were 4x4.
