Default CC Sidewinder Problems

I just purchased a Sidewinder for my Slash 4x4. I went and did the basic beep set up to get it going.

When it came time to run it. It suddenly had bad acceleration, motor cutting in and out, coging, and glitching. (yes my RX is away from the Esc)

I'm using the stock 7 cell that comes with the RTR slash 8.4 volts 3000mah.

Is Lipo cut off the play here? Is it enabled stock out the box? I do plan on buying the Castle link Asap.

I really hate the beep set up they use

ESC comes with auto-lipo enabled so it will be the cutoff

Can be changed without castle link, details on the castle website

Cheers

The default out of the box is auto-lipo (3.0v/cell) - all Castle's escs come this way.

The cutoff has 6 options and it wouldn't surprise me if you've got it on one of the others. Unless you got a Sidewinder thats been on the shelf a long time, the firmware on it should be late enough that its past the ver that had some cogging.

There will be no ques with the Link. I was using Quark escs and didn't care for the beep business either. When I got my 1st Castle esc, I ordered it with the link - one of the big reasons I switched!

Ill try switching up the battery packs. The stocker 7 cell is still pretty brand new tho. I'm honestly leaning towards a novak balistic system now. My last system was a havok sport and I had ZERO problems.

What servo are you using? The sidewinder has only a 1a bec which can cause some strange glitching if you are using a servo with high current draw. If you are using the traxxas servo that probably isn't the problem though.

You never said what motor you run, For instance if you hooked up a 17.5 it will cogg like no tomorrow. Thats the nature of sensorless with high turn motors.

Its the 5700 Motor that comes with the sidewinder..

I went out and got a new 7 cell, works like a charm, tons of power, retarded fast lol . I now have problems with long range now. I haven't charged the battery to full yet, that might be the issue. Any suggestions on fixing my range? My Receiver is far from anything and I'm still getting shutter at long distances.

It is really handy. I just wish the pins weren't exposed like that. I think I'm going to make a case so I can keep it in my pocket.

Yeah, the pins are vulnerable - I just cut down the protective sleeve it was in when I got mine, thats been fine so far. It does stay in my shirt pocket or my auto's glove box though.

This is def not for tossing in your pit bag unprotected!
