I have heard that it adds bottom end. I was getting around 8 min. today at the races with the extension on. I guess next race I will try it without it. I was running a tad on the rich side because it was my first race after break in. That is one awesome engine tough.

heres my b7 .21 with a gallon on it running the 2057 pipe without the spacer.just messing around and tunning.its silky smooth and quick.im going from quarter throttle to almost full and its still buzzin with springy speed.i was running 205 to 215 on this.gotta get better plugs it wont get hot enough .ran out of gas at the end.these engines are great.

Done a good true run times on my buggy last night just to see what exactly is my run time is on this new B5. This motor has 1 1/2 gallons on it.
Motor is the '10 Werks B5 w/ JP3 pipe, Nitro Juice Fuel 30%, OS P3 plug,
RC8B, 123cc measured fuel from tech. From start up to completely empty flame out.
1st run 10:27 temp 218deg
2nd run 10:35. temp 220deg
3rd run 10:20 temp 215deg
Im sure I could lean it out and get temps around 230-240 and get close to 11min.

How lean are you guys running your low speed needle on the 2010s. For mine to have a good idle and take off like a bat out of hell Ive got lsn 2 and a half turns in from flush. High speed is about the same. My idle screw is set at about a half mil. Running about 220-230 like this, in 80 degree weather. This motor tunes all together different than the 09. About a half turn in from flush on lsn and about a turn on the hsn. Why the big difference?

After trying this motor out this weekend at the Midwest Nitro Series round 1, I have to say WOW! This has to be the best/bad ass motor I have ever ran in a buggy. The motor is so smooth on the bottom with a killer top end. Its feels like a Reedy but the whole power curve so much more higher. It’s also the perfect motor for the RC8B, you can drive this buggy so hard and it’s on rails. I ran an OS 5.5mm carb insert, one .9 and two 1.0 springs, also went up a tooth on the bell. Temps were between 215 and 235 with still a good smoke trail on the 2057 pipe. Fuel mileage was 11.25. All we have to see now is how long this motor will last, but I have never had a grin so big before when it came to an engine!!!

Well, I think I'm a victim of what I warn others about: needle imbalance. The motor has been working good, but I've been having trouble with it wanting to flame out from the idle air gap being too small. It's not getting hot, not at all, but I believe it is because my top end needle gets way rich and my low end needle is on the lean side. If I keep leaning out the top end, the second burst of throttle can cause it to cut right when I jam on the throttle. Richening up the top fixes this, but it takes away from power and it is a slippery slope to too rich. I'm fairly certain that the low end is just too lean because it returns to idle, then idles up, and once it loads up it goes down to one idle speed (that seems right), then it goes down again to a loaded up state. What I'm stuck with is adjusting idle to where it stays running in the fully loaded state, like if I blip the throttle and it is rich, I don't want it to come off throttle and flame out. But I have to keep pushing the idle down to keep it from high idling. I knew I was on the edge of too lean because further leaning of the LSN and opening of the idle gap produces a very unstable idle.
I think what my major malfunction is that I have been working under the assumption that if it loads up at all under idle it's not lean. This was the case on my v-spec -- you would go from loading up, to not loading up, to high idling as you progressively leaned the lsn... there was no 'too lean but loading up'. If I richen the LSN up, the motor instantly returns to good idle, but it's not very snappy off the line, which is probably really just a result of an overly rich HSN setting I'm betting.
