I finally got my BMI all together - anybody have a good starting setup for carpet stock with rubber tires? I'm using Take-off 27s - and I would describe the track as medium grip and a little bumpy in places. I race at RSJ Raceways in Libertyville if anyone is familiar with it.

Oh, I saw a setup post earlier, but it was for modified foams, so I wasn't sure it would work for me. Thanks.

zgeist,

I'll be in the exact same boat as you come next Saturday. I'll be running my FT TC3 in the stock tub format this weekend, but moving to the BMI chassis for the following week. In all of my setup research, it looks like your setup will be identical to your tub setup that you are running now. I will be using the exact same settings for RSJ as I did a few weeks ago in the Trophy race in Superstock. That setup was based on Barry Baker's Trackside rubber tire setup, with less rear toe-in, heavier weight oil in the shocks (+10 in each), and gold/silver springs instead of gold/blue. Tires I ran were CS27 Take Offs with a Stratus 2.0. I would say the car was pretty well dialed, even though the driver wasn't.

I'll be using that as the starting point for the BMI conversion with little or no changes to it.

zgeist and Apex....
i ran the BMI tc3 with the Barry Baker setup with Takeoff 27's and I used Losi rear hubs....i also ran the rear shock tower on the front...try that setup and work from there with the BMI....if u guys really wanna fine tune the car a tad bit more....i have messed around the taking out the screws that attach to the tranny caes from the upper deck....it addsjust a touch of traction to that side of the car but makes the chassis flex just a touch ....you win some...u lose some

also if u want the chassis a little stiffer try out the BMI 3mm upper deck

i would recommend purchasing the front bumper brace also...its affordable, trick-looking, and reinforces that front end for when you want to lap that guy and he wont move over for you

the Baker setup should be on the Associated website

Barry Baker Carpet Rubber, Trackside

It's a PDF doc, so it will open up Acrobat when you click on the link.

I did buy a rear shock tower to experiment with on the front, but I have a touch more tweaking to do elsewhere on the car to get it to be just a bit more comfortable for my driving style.

The pics that were posted are of the t1m right out of the box. There are plenty of spots for (BMI) improvement . If i was a betting man (hint hint wink wink) I would predict the release of the BMI T1M not too far off in the future. Hey jason did you catch those hint hint and wink winks ?????????????

zgeist.

i'll be at RSJ this sat...about 4-5pm just before racing starts. let me know if you need some set-up help with CS27s...my old set-up is pretty similiar to the b.baker set-up....worked real well...i've always made the A with it.

apex's car was pretty dialed when i saw it so his set-up works well also.

see you guys at the track....i need to peek at those BMI's...maybe i'll grab one also

I probably won't be there Saturday - I'm usually there on Wednesdays... But I'll give the BBaker setup a try - or at least close to it for starters.
