Traxxas Slash, SETUPS ONLY ! ! ! ! !
#691
It depends on the track/conditions. I run 19T pinion with 86T spur on a medium size high grip indoor track and it works great. On an outdoor larger track, with loose dirt, I bump it up to 21T. Never had an overheating issue.

A Slash is pretty nice out of the box on the track with a set of Gossebumps or Calibers. I never change much of anything......-1 camber all the way around. All the way tight and then 1/2-3/4 of a turn out on the slipper. I run 19-21/86.
I have 2 that I use for spec racing. I set those up a little different. 35 front & rear (AE oil in shocks)....sometimes 40 front/35 rear when its warmer. Both have the Protrac kit. Camber is good @ 1-2 degrees all the way around. Calibers of Goosebumps. This is the same basic set up as everybody else at the track. This is the set up that 7 or 8 out of the top 10 Spec guys use. Hope it helps somebody. the Protrac kit makes for a very easy driving truck. I recommend it as often as I can.

TQ'ed at my local track running open mod 2wdsct ..loving the new MIP cvd's w/ dab of CA to lock plastic joint pin keepers in place...sealed diff...plastic shock cap mod...proline hub adapters ...
bent the stock shock shafts in the main ...just put on the hardend TiNi shafts and v3 bowties and a bulldog body that hugs the chassis
i ran box stock class two years ago with the same truck ..just felt like the stock class should be new racers ..... just my opinion not hate'n on the spec'ers

I am waiting for my 4x4 Platinum to come in and I have a question about a setup (I tried asking in the Slash 4x4 forum but no one really answered)
Like I said it is a Slash 4x4 Platinum -
Ive heard the shocks are decent but ive also heard that xxx-t shocks are the best for this truck
I have a xxx-t roller sitting here and it has the upgraded metal adjustable shocks - does anyone have any experience with these or the regular xxx-t shocks
I like the idea that they are very strong and easily adjustable and if they are the best well then of course I will use them
Let me know what you think
Thanks guys

I received my slash and I still am looking for an answer to the shock issue.
Let me know if you have any knowledge on the topic.
Thanks

Hello Slash Setup Racers... I need some help as I can't quite figure this out. I have a slash and run on carpet. I put a Novak Havoc Sport ESC and 17.5 Novak motor in with a gearing of low 70's spur and 30 pinoin. The truck seems fast as I won the A-Main this past Friday, but it doesn't deliver the pop that I would like. I am running the 17.5 advanced 3/4's of the way to see if that would help but it didn't seem to improve much. I'm curious to know what others are running in terms of gearing with a 17.5? Does it make sense to run my Hovac ESC with a stock motor? Any advantages?
Thanks in advance as I'm totally stumped here.

Yes I am probably rude-rude-rude. But I am a Novak fan and if you read it again to me it sounds like he was in last place and the Novak setup is not as good as it should be.
But he won his first A Main !!!!
If he would have said he wasn't as fast as everyone else or in the middle or back of the pack I would not have said a word.

this stuff too. I sorry if i have offended you. I don't even know this guy. He is now a racer and this hobby of ours needs all the interest it can get. I for one would like this site to be as pleasant as possible for everyone. Thanks for listening to and old man who loves this RC Car stuff. Buy the way, I'm a big fan of Novak.
Race on,
