hello does anyone know where you can get the ride subaru wrx body for m05 thanx

Roy, I corrected my spelling,sorry. Your car looks GREAT! Matter of fact my first real car was a Datsun 510 in this same color. If I keep our minis I am ordering two of these bodies!

Not going for the TL body mounts as i have to drill new holes in the body.
I think by drilling a lower clip hole in the pole i can lower the body by some 5 mm.
Then i have to figure out how not to let the tires run against the body as it is a tight fit all together.
Even with the non offset rims of Tamiya it is a very close call at the rear.
Do you have any pictures of your car??
I am looking for such a car in real life to collect it with my other 2 oldtimers i have.

What pitch is the pinon on the M05?

The Tamiya hardened 20T pinion has been a disappointment - after 1 race the thread for the grub screw completely cracked and fell apart. Others at my series tell me it is a common failure. So I have to buy a new pinion, and the Tamiya hardened one was expensive so rather unhappy with it and won't be getting that again!



RE tire size: the most popular size is 55D, why? I would have thought that the larger diameter of the 60D makes for higher top speed. Winter season is over and we are moving outdoors now and i have the choice of either, but am thinking on the longer outdoor tracks I will be slower than the rest if I used 55D. We race handout 540 stock.

I/we have been using the Tamiya hardened pinions now for about 5-6 years I think. Never had a single failure, and that's from all the rc-mini crew...
a 'common failure'? I think not... it's the first I've ever heard of.

60D tyres have a higher top speed, but lousy turn in/steering. in 90% of situations 55D tyres are still better

How often do you remove them? I may have been king konging it tightening but the thread inside the pinion and the sidewall / end of the pinion (facing motor side) did crack right behind the grub screw hole. Mini racer next to didn't even have to look at it to tell me what happened. So it's happened here often enough for people not to want to use it.

I'd like to buy another one but it's expensive if it's going to fail again.

So, can anyone help with the pitch?

Tamiya use a metric 0.6 pitch. You do not really have much choice as there are not many 0.6 pinions other than the ones Tamiya distribute

Last I check, Robinson Racing still makie metric pinion for tamiya cars. Unless TCS don't allow it, I would get them from Robinson Racing .
