So what are the first mods everyone is going to do with theirs ?

will we need front CVDs like on teh 18r's ?

What rims will fit straight onto these, may be doing some carpet racing so i need some new rims with foamies..

Also looking for some drift rims, will make the drift tyres just need to know what rims would fit onto the sc..

I have an Exotek GTZ body, foam tires, micro Spektrum RX, Tekin B1-R and a 2200mah Lipo.

Let us know when you get these things in hand. Im trying to debate what 18th I want to get to have fun with in the driveway since Im letting all the rest of my stuff go. I dunno if I want the shortcourse, or the rc18t2 with the slipper when it comes out.

My SC18 came in yesterday but I came down with the flu, so I had to wait to get someone to bring it to me. I finally got my hands on it this afternoon and had a chance to give it a once over. First off, it is a little longer wheelbase than the previous models. The belt drive system and the gear diffs give it a whole different sound, smoother sounding. The new steering looks to be a huge improvement as well. There is a tiny bit of slop, but nothing like the old system. The pictures I have seen on the net did not show if the SC18 would share the slipper clutch as the new T2/B2, but it IS included on the SC18. Here are a few pics:

And a great little surprise is that the 2200 Flightmax batteries fit right in without any mods:

Compared to a RC18R

Compared to an Exotek R18II

Compared to an Exotek TEK18X

I cant wait to get some tracktime with this new layout. I will report back as I do.

My SC18 arrived last friday. Overall I am very happy. This thing is tough. It has survived several high-sped incounters with curbs and brick walls...and teaching my wife to drive...being attacked and bitten by my dogs...etc! Only a cracked bumper so far. It is quick stock. I have not put the NOVAK 13T brushless in yet. Stock batt is 1100 NiMh...and it comes with simple "wall-wart" charger.

Drive train: seems great...very quiet and smooth with the belts. I like the the cam-style pinion-gear meshing with clamp. It is hard to see the gear mesh though...unless I am missing some other way to see the gears. I just meshed the gears by feal/free-play. IT DOES HAS THE SLIPPER CLUTCH!

Handling: It turns awesome! THis is where the low ride height/longer wheelbase shines. I can't wait to get it one the track at work. The only negative for me is how low it rides...you can't drive it on any rough surface...only street or groomed track...which is the intetion of the design...I was just a little surpised about the 3/8inch ground clearance. It is pretty much a rally car with a short-course truck body. THe smallest rocks will upset the SC18 while off-road

I wish there was a little less free-play in the steering. Despite the play...the SC18 tracks straight...so the castor-angle must be just right.

Radio: I like the XP3-SS radio system a lot! The TX feels quality. The throtle ATV knobs are nice so I can lmit the top speed when rookies take her for a spin. I cut the antenna tube down to bout 1.5 inches so it is all under the body. This is plenty of antenna for 2.4 at the ranges I drive this thing (close).

Other: The bumpers are nice and very functional. This thing is really tiny! I already have bumpers and tires on order.

I highly recommend this vehicle...but only get it if you drive a groomed course (no rocks) or carpet track. If you want an all-terrain vehicle...get the RC18B/T2

Jon

Mine is on its way aswell as a nightline skyline 18r body, some 1/10 scale onroad wheels with adaptors & im making up some PE drift tyres.

I see the sc18 is ever so slightly longer than the 18r. Can someone with both put the 18r body on the sc18 chassis & take a pic for me, I wanna see how far out it is...
