Default Airtronics M8 Antenna Mod Range Issue

I did the Antenna mod for the Spektrum module antenna found here:

http://www.rc411.com/pages/howto.php?howto=16&page=6

I followed it to a tee but I noticed that I'm not getting decent range at all. I'm wondering if there is something perhaps I didn't do or missed? I really don't want the original telescopic antenna on it anymore and I love having the Spektrum antenna on it as it looks sleek but the range issue is hurting me.

Does anyone have any ideas as how I can get more range from doing the mod without having to put the telescopic antenna back in?

Any/all help is appreciated because I race this Sunday.

Thanks,

Rob

Default M8 fix for me

I had the same issue when I did tried the same mod. I ended up messing up the antenna during the process. When I tried to fix it I ripped the antenna in half. I bought a wifi pigtail (see ebay link below) and routed the cable to the mast antenna hole and bolted it in. I then use a screw in antenna. Works great ever since. I run the original spektrum module. Not sure if the pro version will work with this pigtail, but it would not suprise me if they are the same style of input connetor.

I'm surprized. I did the mod to put the antenna through the antenna hole on two of my M8's and have had no range problems with either one.
