Colt has a neat selection of Mini bodies, including trucks like a 65 Chevy, all designed for the minis.

Everything Colt makes is for the SWB models. For MWB there's almost nothing. For LWB, there's even less. Damned stubby little car fans!

We North American types like our cars HUUUUGE! Considering however, that we make omly up about than 5% of the world's population, it's not surprising that there aren't that many non SWB shells available.

I have been debating selling my m05 before I even built it. I literally have not touched it since I bought it a month or so ago. I have been debating going the 4wd route and buying an ABC Genetic, but am not sure either way.

Would anyone be interested in buying a brand new in box m05 pro? I also have a set of the mini specific trf shocks, also new in the box. Just seeing if anyone would be interested. If there is significant interest, I'll create a for sale thread as I don't want to take this thread off topic.

Well got my new mini today,started to assemble it,got the chasis halves together,then thought about the diff,,is it worth it to upgrade to the ball diff or is the stock one sufficent for racing?

Ball diff is a must, but im sure you have it built by now. You will notice a huge difference. I couldnt believe the difference.

A gear diff with an extra shim on each side will work very well. I haven't tried the M05 ball diff so am only referring to a M03. In fact the USA TCS Mini Champ for 2009 was using this diff in his M03.

I have a M05 ball diff sitting on my bench right now and will test it in a couple of weeks. The gear diff in my M05 worked great, but being able to adjust the diff externally is a great convenience.

You have to look at what suits your needs. I bought the standard m05 and upgraded the shocks and added bearings.The alloy motor mount is also a great upgrade.
For me this was the most cost effective by a long way.

not sure what the ball diff / gear diff is about just yet.

sure when running tc the ball diff is needed... but my stock m05 pro outhandled even the most decked out m05's ive seen last weekend.

not like the ball diff for m05 is cheap either

i bought the standard M05 then upgraded to TRF dampers , alloy motor mount , alloy stearing , TRF servo saver , driveshaft upgrades and new Ball diff

it is better then the M05 Pro , and i choose what upgrades i bought

Thanks calvin. where did the 40gms under the batt go? I ran with lead weights stuck to the bottom of the battery but that prevents easy changeing of the battery...
