I have been trying to help my brother tune his extech .21 we just could not get it to stay running no matter what we did we sealed the engine replaced the fuel tank checked the fuel lines and changed the glow plugs nothing worked so today we broke down the engine and we find a bunch of silicone in it looks like it came out of the crank. I have a couple of questions first will the engine run ok with out the crank being filled second do you think there is any damage to the engine I checked it and I dont see any. has anyone had this problem. thanks for any help

Unfortunately, I have heard several stories of this happening. Don't know why this can't be fixed. Personally, I have had it happen with two mills now. One I ran last season, and an FM 09 I ran this season, just happened last w/end. While it does seem to be an ongoing problem, I have heard a few guys have run without the putty. I am going to try it out soon myself. You can also contact Chad @ Trinity, and I'm sure he will work something out to get yours fixed.

I going to tear down mine tomorrow and take a look I was going to pick up a 24 but I think I might hold off . I don't think this problem will damage the engine but it would suck if it happened in the middle of a race. My brother bought his engine about 6 months ago he only has 2 gallons on it but I don't think chad will be able to do anything about it.Thanks for the info

same thing happened to my ExTech .21 FM , had it redone by a friend of mine who mods engines , told me you can run without the silicone , but you probably wouldn`t get as good of fuel mileage , engine runs awesome since he fixed it.......
