tire inserts
can somebody tell me what I can expect by putting different tire inserts into the same tire, ie firm insert vs soft insert into Sorex 24's? i'm going to race on carpet for the first time this weekend and I only have Sorex 36's w/ medium inserts and Sorex 28's. i normally race at Speedworld during the spring, summer months, so i'm in need of picking up some new tires
thanks

I run on carpet.
Sorex:
Front 24 with blue hpi insert(hard)
Rear 24 with green hpi insert(med)
I think what happens is a harder insert is better for the front since alot of load occurs up front just as why we run plaid or ring compounds in foam fronts its to keep the tire from rollng.
I feel that it would take away a small amount of traction so that your not hooking. I find that this combo works well but have had traction rolls near the end of a race day. things tend to warm up as the day goes on and i need to lay off the tire juice.
Hope this helps.
Other guys are running 28s all around at our track. But currently i have TQ'd and one most of my races with this set up this sereis. Could be the yoko SD or the SMC cells though

Are you racing at STRC in Stockton?? If so try 28s up front and 24s in the rear with HPI red inserts. Also go to www.rcracing.com message board. Most of those guys post on that site.

HeY!!!
Hey lately i've been running the Takeoffs (27's) they're just as good as sorex i think, maybe like .1-.3 tents of a sec. slower but yeah.

Take offs last longer, and no doubt look great after a few runs. Where Sorex come off looking scary after just one or two runs. But hands down SOREX offers more grip then the takeoffs.
The BS tirewar with rubber is what got me so hell bent on running foams on Sedans both nitro and electric. I remember attending events where guys where running there rubber tires for one run and then cutting them open to re-use the inserts in a new set of tires!!! Sorry not fun. I can now run foams from new to the rim with great grip the whole time.
I went form spending $1000s on rubber trying to find the golden tire to just buying 2 sets of foams for 20 race sereis+++(no way you could make rubber go that far.)

Joel actually foams u have to cut them down though every amount of runs and that, and chunk if u catch a corner and the takeoffs they lasted me quite awhile w/ really good performance.

Truing - Takes all of 40 seconds and if you rotate them each run it won't take much.
Chunking - Easy to fix, silicon or shoe goo works great in the hole, traction really isn't that effected if it's not a big chunk.
