That has no use.... The rod itself has become weak and can snap before you know it.

That's funny, many Go Tech owners use Nova rods for durability and here we have a Nova owner using Go Tech rods for price. Can't make anyone happy.

I wasn't saying anything is wrong with it. I just think it's funny that I see people in the Go forum bitching about rods breaking and at the same time, Nova owners with the strongest rods in the business are bitching about price and using Go rods. I think if I were to ever get a Go, I would break it in and run one race on it, then put a Nova rod in it and run it until it was slam wore out. I bet the rod would outlast the piston and sleeve.

i agree but $50-60 for a R7 rod and $18 for a go rod ill keep buying the go rods and use the saved $ on fuel
anyhow chances are buy the time the R7 rod wears out it will be time to replace the crankshaft due to excess crankpin wear and at least with the go rods i can afford to change them at every gallon which helps keep my crankpins from wearing oblong or out of round.
also if i were to buy a braand new novarossi i will break it in using a go-rod then stick the R7 rod back in.

The only problem with the Go engines is that
they have so much pinch when they are new.
I find that the people bitching about rods breaking
or wearing out so fast are the same ones that
think that a ten tank break-in is all any engine needs.
Most of the wear and stress is placed on a rod during
the break-in period. Try running any engine, on the pipe,
wide open, tank after tank, on a huge dirt oval. We can
stretch a rod out in a good weekends running, I don't
care who made the engine. I've talked to a few local
on-road racers who were having trouble with the rods
in there Novarossi engines. None of the engines had ever
seen a heat gun during there, long, six tank break-ins.
Ha!Ha! Wonder why?

i absolutely agree with the above statements, most new engines need a gallon before they drop there nuts
and could you imagine buying a nova rod at $55 a pop every other weekend or every gallon?

get one for the break in all your engines and after the first 1/2 - 1 gallon of low to mid rpm put the new one in. I've had rods that have lasted years litterally, I had an R01 till two years ago, and it was perfect, gave it to a friend and used it in his (old)engine until the engine wore out - the rod was still good enough.

I once put a new bushing on a sirio rod... the problem is that the bushings you usually find are ment for low rpm, or high lube (or both) situations, the bushing for a 250 rpm conveyor is not the same as the one in a 30k-40k rpm nova at full song, and it simply breaks, we tryed as I said with a sirio with the best bushing that WE could find comercially (yeah the point was to get it cheap and locally) and both shattered in pieces.

I would like to make a needle bearing.

with the cost of these hi-end mills they should include a spare or "throw away"rod for use during the break-in period.
