Go-Tech Engines Thread

I dont see where nobody cant get nothing here I can and ask 22racer where he gets his stuff from? Racefactorindustries is here and not gone it basically was to supply hobby shops. And Russell does have the GX line coming in he just likes to have all old stuf out before he brings in new. I can understand that myself as I have my own buisness and hate having 1 or 2 of the "old" thing on the shelf because its hard to get rid of. Thats all just be patient and all will be well. Trust me I want a GX5 too but I can wait.

If it's a Gen 5.5 with the red logo on the front of the carb, factory settings are flush on both needles.
If it is an earlier model with the long needle (stays in spray bar at full throttle) - HSN .5 turns in from flush and LSN 1.5 turns in from flush will be close. If it's a short needle (comes out of spray bar at 3/4 to full throttle - HSN 1.5 turns in from flush and LSN 2 - 2.5 turns in from flush should be close.
These won't be precise due to differing fuel, pipes, clutch set up etc, but will be close enough to get you started and not too far off a good tune hopefully.

no you won't. A gen 5.5 carb works and is easier to tune then the gen 4 carb. imo. The only thing with any of those carbs are the carb seals for the needles. You can by some from massive mods or make them out of fuel line(I use fuel line trick, after I have bought all the other engine seals including needle seals from massive mods or fx racing) At least this has been the case for me. And when you do go to massive mods to get your seals. order at least 3 sets of each and keep them on hand. trust me on this one!

God don't get rid of all the old stuff. I have 4 go-tecs. Will need parts for them. I am a go-tec NUT! I cannot say or think of 1 bad thing to say about any part of the product. Once these are broken in they haul ass, keep a tune I get great mileage, with just the stock restrictors. Once I found this thread and understood how to tune these, from gen 4 too gen 5 these are super easy to tune. The engines need the same maintenance as any other engine out there. One of my 7 ports is on gallon 12. What more could you ask for. Get the new stuff here in the states, thank you.
It would suck if the internals totaly change and there are different parts needed for the Gen 5 range, the GX range and now the MG66 range.

So do the GX line of GO engines use totally different parts than the gen 5 engines? I tried to get a gen 4/5 conrod and was told that I also need a new crank as the big end is now a different size.

My man you are telling the truth! A whole U.S. market waiting for these engines. Our official GO_TECH distributor is a joke. He's coming up with some thing big! Maybe getting fired and getting some one in there that can handle the job. I have been bitching about the way we are supplied with go products for over a year. Need to go to Canada or massive mods for parts. Unless 22 racer has them. They Sure are not here! When I order from fx racing or massive mods I try to order 3-4 of everything. My have to wait a few extra days for parts but at least you get them. Be cause you sure won't get them from RACEFACTOR.

Hey Guys, thanks for your patients.
Racefactorindustries.com is still in the process of being revamped. The GX line of engines is on their way to us. I have been told that the Go Engine factory had had to shut down because of a typhoon in Taiwan. If you have any more questions, you can always email me
[email protected]
Otherwise, I will let you know as soon as we receive the new engines.
Thanks again for your patients

Hey All
The MG66 and the new GX engine all share the same carb. The only difference is the badge on the front.
The differences are from Gen 5 to Gen 5.5 and Gen 6 MG 66
New Nitrile Seals HSN LSN and Crank Body
New HSN with Double seal ( little bit more sensitive in tuning )
New Carb body material and manufacture process.
TiNi Coated Slide
My first impressions of the carb are good. its very steady and is the best carb Go have made yet ! The older carbs were fine too but suffered from a small problem of the seals being too soft. The New Nitrile Seals are much better ! and indeed have eliminated this problem. So dont panick the gen 5 carbs are still fine , just swap out the seals and youre under way !
Cheers MM

Oh and I put 3 liters through the MG66 today..WOW it is just beginning to liven up properly..totally insane..perfect days racing..only breakages was finally blew the bearings in my rear gearbox where the centre driveshaft attaches to the small drive pinion ..but I did this on the lap of honor after the last race and I lost the stinger I JB welded on my 2072 pipe so I'll have to make something proper or buy a new pipe again..bit pissed about that but shit happens in the melee!!

I'll have to catch up on the thread tomorrow, we had a busy weekend of racing. It was round 5 of our Minnesota Nitro series (www.mnnitroseries.com) We had an awesome weekend. Kendall Tqed every round of buggy and Truggy running a 5 port in His Kyosho Mp9 and a 5 port in his St-rr and won both mains. He even had to come in for a tire change after one was coming loose. I Tqed all my rounds and won my Intermediate A with a 7 port. I had been running a 2047 with a 0801 header but went to a 0801 pipe for a little mileage and have to say I like the 0801 better. Can't wait to get the 2072.

hi there
my dealer could get an go mg66 engine, i am thinking about to try it but i not sure
i have a go r21 5pt and a 7pt
i like the 7 port more in my truggy, its an awesome engine.
with which other engine of other brands i can compare a MM Mg66 engine?
with a C6, ninja? would this mg66 have this bottom and low end?

The MG66 has only just been released, with most of the new owners still in the break in process.
There might only be a couple of guys who have seriusly raced the motor at this stage. I know the prototypes where scaring the pants off a lot of other motors out there.
Mark may have done some side by side testing, and may be able to give you more of a comparison.
I would say in a couple of weeks there will be some reports from the track that you could refer to.
