thinking of trying this engine in the near future
would an od 97T plug run good in the motor?(I am in so cal) I want to run od because of the price and fairly easy to find
also I would be running either an OS 2050 or a Jp-3..I will be running in my truggy w/ 1.1 clutch springs

I ran the 97t plug in my B5 after I broke it in then switched to a p3 and really couldnt tell one bit of difference.. I ran the 2050 and also the jp3 and I thought the jp3 was a little better. both had good bottom but the jp3 had a little better top, both had the same mileage. as far as clutch well...thats up to you the motor has a lot of grunt and should be great in truggy.

As more people receive the engines (they basically have only been shipping from shops since last friday) I think that you we will start to see a wealth of information appear on here. As you can see this is already starting to become a more technically oriented thread which is going to be quite beneficial to everyone that runs the B5! Thanks guys and please keep the information flowing!

Try an 053 pipe yet? I'm planning on getting a B5 soon and hope to have it all broke in and ready for the Race Against Cancer.

NitroLuver, Mo (1fastguy) is spot on as far as the plugs are concerned. We run the P3 and 97T's quite often and they seem to be pretty much interchangeable. So feel free to use the one that is most commonly or economically available in your area. As far as clutches are concerned (and even pipes) it really is a personal preference type of thing but I would probably recommend that you start with something lighter than 1.1's i.e. 1.0's. There is very few things in my opinion that makes a vehicle harder to drive and affect fuel consumption as much as having a clutch that has too late of an engagement. From a set up standpoint you are better off erring on the side of a too soft spring rather than a too heavy one. Also I believe you mentioned that you are in So. Cal, if so and you happen to see Kortz at a track and have some questions or need some tuning help feel free to ask him. He is one of our drivers, uses the same engine and part of his job is to help people out that are using our equipment.
