i haven't tried Sidewinder before but some people like it. The new revo traxxas has is the old 5309 revo but revamped. That looks like a perfect starter truck.

Nobody has suggest the HPI Savage X?

If you are new to RC you won't want to be fixing the truck all the time.

Savages are better for bashing and crashing, revos are more for the race. You can easily hop-up your savage so it can compete with the revos.

The truck you'll be breaking less: Savage X

The truck that will be better on the track out of the box: Revo 3.3

Looked at the savage didn't like the way it looks. No point in getting something you don't think looks cool. I'm going to try and get that new 5309 one.

I agree with that. Well i just got off the phone with a traxxas tech. the 5309 is the same as the 5308 revo but this one has reverse, extra glow plug, different tires/wheels, rechargeable receiver pack, rechargeable ez starter 6 cell 15oomah pack, charger, dual steering waterproof servos 2075 servos, new body, a 2.4 gzh radio system and it includes all the same options the 5308 has (it has the extend chassis). They were just released and have not ship yet but will very soon. Ball park they will be around $540, all you'll need is fuel and 8 AAs for the radio.

Pretty good starting kit for me, just grab some fuel and stop at the store on the way back for some AA battery's and im set. Did they say when they are shipping? I might have to go in and see if he can grab one for me.

You'll have to ask yout local hobby shop. they can get a hold of traxxas to get a ship date, he did not give me a ship date but soon. He told they brought back the reverse due to popular demand along with a 2.4 radio system include with it.

Im liking this one

At first you'll be grateful to have reverse, then later on you'll never use it. Me I'm not a big fan but some love the reverse option.

Talk to the guy at the hobby shop, he should be able to special order that new revo for you. If he is unwilling to do that, I would find a diffrent hobby shop.
I have never been a big Traxxas fan simply because when I first got started in the game of RC,(way back in the late 80's) they were cheap, junk cars. From what I have seen in the last few years, they now have good stuff. Thinking about ordering one of the new revos myself.
