Getting into Rc..
So I decided I wanted to get into Rc cars and I don't know much about them. I went into my LHS it's a small town and he didn't know much at all and I looked around and saw a revo 3.3 and that was pretty much it, and the fuel he carried was sidewinder 20/12. Just wondering if the revo would be an ok car to start with or should I hold off and wait. If it is a good car what else would I need, he told me a 7.2v battery and charger as well. Just thought I would get some more info before putting the money out. Thanks

yes a Revo 3.3 is a good start. been rc truck of the year many times. traxxas also has good directions and a dvd to watch to help. you would need a 7.2 battery and a charger.

Revo 3.3(5308) If you do plan on going to the track to race a little you'l be ready to do so.

Alright, yea it's a 5308 one I just heard that they had a charger in the box that would also charge the 7.2 battery maybe I just miss read it.

If it comes with the charger in the box then all you will need is the stick pack to go into the ez start for starting the truck up. Personally I hate the electric start and on all my traxxas trucks just put a pull start and used a glow igniter but thats just me.
The revo in any of its forms has been an awesome truck. Very bashable, very raceable, and an all around good to own truck. Probably the best bet for any begginer who wants a versatile offroad vehicle. If i was going to go buy a new truck right now it would be the erevo brushless. I have never heard of that fuel personally so someone else will have to chime in there. I ran 30% back in my nitro days but I was younger then, now everything I run is brushless Lipo. |
There was a erevo brushless but it was only a 1/16 scale :(
|
Haha. Yea thats the new one that just came out. Those things are darn cool though both the 1/16th revo and slash. Only good in certain areas buy 35mph outta the box and 50 with an added battery is super fast for 1/16th.
The big erevo brushless is a monster. Real nice truck. |
Yea I'm pretty confused on what to get :(

If you want ease of maintanance and bashability then I would recomend electric and sticking with traxxas. The parts are seriously easily available and you wont have to deal with tons of tuning and engine breakin and all of that other stuff that comes with nitro. If you want power to match the nitro then go with one of the traxxas vxl trucks. The rustler vxl is pretty durable and fast with the included brushless motor. Just make sure you get decent batteries to power the whole thing. If you decide to swing to the electric side, we will talk batteries haha.

The only electric was the e revo 1/16 brushless but I would be driving the rc car mostly on grass since the highway in front of my house is pretty busy and my driveway is pretty small.

If your LHS doesnt have a large selection then you will probably have to do most of your parts ordering offline anyways so might as well get the best truck for you instead of just settling on what the LHS has or doesnt have. |
yea was looking at online places and by the time i pay for the shipping and handling its way over what I want to pay.
|
Ehh you arent looking at the right places then. Most of the time it comes out almost even. What have you decided on that you want the most and then we can help you find the best thing for your budget.
