Brushless Motor rating is equal to .....

Between my chart and your chat, those are the pretty much correct, but when it gets to the 5.5 and below, i rated it to be more like a real brushed motor because there is no 5 turn brushed motor.

cool thanks for the charts ...maybe an admin should sticky up just the charts in this section

sort of makes it confusing to see that the 13.5 Novak and LRP motors are equivelent to the 27T motors but other manufacturers that produce a 17.5 motor are equivelent to the 27T motor - not to mention the fact that certain motors from other manufacturers with the 13.5 rating are like 19T motors...or is this the great ROAR / IFMAR debate going in another thread ?
I know the brushless motors are far superior as these were really becoming big in R/C airplanes about 3 years ago as I was getting out of everything all together...overall power is amayzing ....is the cost effectivness worth it ...seems a good set up (including todays lipo batteries) would make someone switch to nitro real quick ...but I guess that is another debate for later

Hobbywing makes BL motors with no label (heat sink can) and ones with EZRun labels. I've seen the no labeled ones sold with their 35A ESC and the labeled ones with their 60A on up ESCs. I'm assuming different rated BL motors pull different amps so what would happen if an EZRun labeled BL motor was used with their 35A ESC?

+1 this makes it very confusing for the new guy. I wonder how many new guys bought a 13.5 and get to the track just to be told that their $80 motor isn't the one they should have bought...Way to go Novak/LRP!!!

My Novak 13.5 SS is rated at about 190 watts.
My Brood Cobalt 27 turn stock has been dyno'd at 131 watts.
I know which one I would be putting in my car!
We have 13.5 or 19 turn spec as our class. I can guarantee the 13.5 KILLS the 27 turn motors. I have tested it first hand
Also, power aside, the 13.5 can be gear to high heave compared to the 27 turn. I had my 27 turn at 5.5:1 FDR. The 13.5 is at 4.8:1 and i'm going lower this weekend, probably as low as 4.5 or more......

NevadaGary,
You are correct, but while your BL motor has a small sticker along the bottom, it's not the sticker that fully covers the BL motors that come with their line of 60A+ ESCs. If you were to check HobbyPartz, you'll see both Hobby Wing BL motors (for 1/10th scale) I'm considering. I'm just trying to find out the difference between the two types of BL sensorless motors and whether the full labeled one can be used with their 35A ESC or has to be used with their 60A+ ESCs. Thanks

Yes, didn't find anything on how many amps a particular BL motor pulls. The 1/10th scale based ESC top out at 80A continuous and the largest 1/8th and 1/5th scale are maxed at 185A continuous.
Btw, the 1/10th scale motors at HobbyPartz are advertised as sensorless.
35A ESC is bundled with the 3650-M
60A ESC is bundled with the 3650
