Im not an engine pro but I don't think the epoxy effects crank ballance much. They drill the crank to lighten it and the epoxy ramp is supposed to help with fuel flow. Prolly helps mileage as well.

You have to love these motors, I won my a-main saturday in 97 degree temps, tons of horsepower, and came off the track to a whopping 168 degrees. UNREAL!!
Qualified 7th, but went into turn 2 in first place and never looked back. This motor is so silky smooth................Pitted at the 8 minute mark for the 15 minute main.

I'm seriously looking at the Fully-modded Extech .24 for my Losi 8ight-T 2.0 and was wondering if anyone has any feedback on the power and mileage of this engine. Are 10 min runs attainable with a good tune and a smooth throttle finger? Also, is anyone running Trinity Monster Horsepower blend (12% oil) in this engine, or is it best to run the recommended Trinity Platinum blend (8% oil)?

From what I can see Slay, The crank has more materials on the top making it top heavy..I would think filling that hole and since most of the epoxy sits in that inner tube it would surely help with balance..but that's just a guess

The .24 full mod is a great motor but imo unless you run a tight track and need the low end grunt that it has your better off running a .21 in the new lighter truggies. I have both motors and I prefer to run the .21 on larger tracks as they seem to have a higher top and you have less wheel spin on loose tracks. Just my opinion, they both are sweet motors and you won't be dissapointed either way you go.

Thanks for the feedback Qmartin. What have you experienced as far as run time is concerned with your .21 and .24? What fuel are you using?

I have the ex tech .24 pre-tuned. I broke it in and did one race day on it. It is a monster. I did a 8 min pit in the main and still had fuel in the tank. The engine was too much for me. I was loosing the truggy after the turns so I took it out and put a grp non-tuned in that was more managable. I am pretty sure that fully modded on is even better. If someone come with a good offer I am selling my .24.

I am also only use 30% trinity fuel. I get good run times out of all of my engines with this fuel.

Glad to hear it's a monster, as that's what I'm craving right now in my truggy. It feels underpowered with my GRP tuned .21.

I have read most of this tread,but haven seen any thing about the pipe that trinty offers for these motors i am gonna pick up the motor and pipe for my truggy just want some input on this combo.

I have the full mod .21, both trinity pipes and a dynamite 053.

With the 2013 the motor is a handful with ok economy.
With the 053 it has a more managable power band, killer top end and better economy.

With the bat pipe it has a very smooth power band with killer top end and great mileage.

Thanks i m still thing. The LHS owner said its a good setup plus i am going with the full mod .24. It seems to be the motor of choice for most the truggy racers here.

Does anyone know what size the head screws are on the ExTech engines?

For anyone out there who is deciding to get the new Ex-tech when they come out here in a few, DO IT!!!!! I have run just about everything out there and I can honestly say this is the best engine I have ever run -- from break-in to racing.

A perfect example was this past weekend at the O Donnell Summer Championships 2 day race at Revelation raceway. Not only did my D8 Hot Bodies buggy perform amazing but my Ex-Tech II .21 was flawless. 3 rounds of 7 min quail and amazing runtime no pits even with the free lap my Ex-Tech never lost consistency!!! This landed me in the A-Main for sunday. 30 min Main and after a 1st lap pile up I worked my way through the pack of 14 and ended up 4th. Motor came off at 189 degrees and was absolutly flawless. Runtime, performance and power. If anyone needs any advice on motors or any questions please feel free to come on over to the Hot Bodies pits and hang out.

Thanks for the feedback Joey. Sounds like you really like the Extech engine. What else have you tried? Do you run truggy too (.24 or .21)? What fuel are you using with your Extechs - Platinum blend or Monster Horsepower blend? Are you using the Extech tuned pipe?
