wanting to up grade my charger and was curious on which one is better.

team check point or duratrax ice

any help would be great i currently have the prophet charger which is a nice one but want to up grade

I've had both the Ice and the TC 1030 chargers and they are just about identical. the 1030 has a higher discharge than the Ice - 30amps vs 10amps. Other than that, they are teh same. They use the same menus and same way of labeling yiur saved charging profiles.

Neither has a balancer, if you're interested in charging lipos you will need a separate balancer.

I used my Ice for almost 4yrs and while discharging a lipo at 10amps, something went wrong. I upgraded to the 1030 and have been happy with i t. Either is a good choice, you decide if the higher discharge capability is worth the extra dollars.

One other diff - the 1030 has a nice blue backlight, the Ice does not, that does make a big diff to some.

The Team Checkpoint balancer works really well. I have been using it with my Oynx 230 charger, and haven't had any problems.

Equinox and Team Checkpoint balancers are made by Hyperion and are basically Hyperion LBA10 balancers with options dictated by either Great Planes (Equinox) or Team Checkpoint. Make sure you pick the one that has your charging parameters - charge rates and cell count. Other than that, they'll all do a solid job.

Ice or TC1030 will work with any of these.
