Why didn't Tamiya configure the battery holder to accept brick type li-po cells??

Close, but no cigar. The M05 uses a different battery holder than the M03.

Yeah they have a ta03r type battery holder. Doesn't look good for those who have lipo

Looks like the pillar for the m03 battery holder is still there to me.
I doubt they would rule out the orion style lipo from this chassis, would be a bad move by tamiya.

I hope this isn't too far off the current topic,but has anyone seen a BMW 2002 body made for the M-chassis? I know a M02/04 would be more scqle. thanks-Mike

I believe ABC Hobby will have them available in the future. I'm gonna start on my new TAMIYA Mini Cooper body for the ABC chassis. It's going to be British Racing Green, with white roof and black fender flares.

I don't think so because I am avidly hoping and searching everywhere I can and I found nothing. Amazingly enough there's very little done in the 2002 topic especially when you compare it to cars in its class like the Alfa 105 for instance. Just a few 1/18 cars. That's very little for a truly cult classic car.

The closest they have come to classic BMW shells is a 1/10 BMW M1 body made by Carson in Germany and a 1/5 BMW 3.5CSL body made by FG again in Germany. None of these cars however are in the same class of cult status with the 2002.

If a 2002 body was ever made, I think there would be a long, long, long line you would have to join to get one.

Top heavy? Mustn't have the car set up - never had many issues with traction rolling, even after the use of lipos.

Why do you want a race car that is less direct (ie responds slower)? That'll make things worse again. The 03 was direct-ish, due to the slop in the linkages and the bump steer etc. I'd be concerned if it went even slower!

Anyhow!

ALL The top end pro Touring Cars (and all other RC cars and trucks besides Pan cars) have Bell-Crank stearing systems in them. There is know problem in having this setup. Super little down side (to some) is slop.

Your concerned if it went even slower? Buy a faster servo problem solved.

looks like m05 will have less bump steer with parallel upper arm angle. lower cg. if comes with lower cg body then even better. m03 will start to lose

Who knows. Not that much lower in the CG department and weight moved away from the driving wheels

A flanged tube and machine screw replaces a step screw ( MA2 or #50582). As you work thru the process, you should be able to figure out which way to insert the tubes to prevent binding and where you can use longer machine screws.

Nothing in the shocks mounting is touched.

In our local Tamiya-comp we can, obviously, only use Tamiya-parts ...
So I'm looking for some Tamiya Rims and A-tyres ...but what insets should I use.
I know these: 50686 (blue inserts) are soft.

but what is the difference between 53205 and 53255?

I once bought some Blue ones (50686) and some black inserts that were the same kind of material as those blue ones but a little harder. These were both a soft kind of foam.
Later on I bought some other black ones, which were more rubber-like than the previous inserts I bought, and I prefered thos rubber-like ones.
... but don't know the Tam-number of those M-inserts.
