Hi Steve,
I bought a havoc and at the first race I went to I could get a half lap out of it before it would cut out for a few sec. then start up for a half lap and repeat. How would I go about sending it in for waranty? for some reason i cant send e-mail to you.

Man I wish I would have read this thread last week as I sent my 8.5 motor only in because the sensor wire broke. I thought that was the end of my problems. I put a 10.5 in my offroad (b4) buggy, & I still had periodic shut downs. I thought maybe I was using too much drag brake via throttle trim on the transmitter, (controller was set at highest drag brake setting) I can't confirm or deny since the shut down has been so random. Guess I need to send the controller in too.

Dear Novak rep
Am wanting to byuy a havoc system but concerned now given what appears to be problems...
1) is there a specific lot or serial number group involved?
2) has the problems been addressed sufficiently that the new ones coming to my LHS will be working correctly or still a chance the "powerboard" issue will occur on newer sets.
Really am glad i checked this thread as i was going to buy one today.. will wait a few days to see how everyone does this weekend

We are confident in our products and always stand by them.
If you purchase a Havoc ESC and find fault with it you can rest assured that we will stand by the product and do what we need to do to make the situation right.

I have had no concerns about novak standing behind there products, they have done a great job in the past with the limited experience i have had , and i have ALOT of ESC or receivers and BL motors from them, BUT if there is a manufacturing or design issue i would like to know about it before i buy or at least know the "problem units" have been dealt with and i am not going to buy a system and within the first few days of running it have to send it in for "warranty work"
I look to buy things when i have money and items may be at better prices, so i may not get the system into a car before the 120 day warranty is up, was going to buy for a onroad car and we do not start that for awhile.. so i guess i will just follow this thread and if it seems things are ok from other users of the system decide then to buy.
I am very pleased with my NOVAK products to date and plan to utilize your replacement program, so i am not trying to degrade novak, just avoid the hassle of having to send back a system shortly after buying it.

Apparently I spoke to soon on the other thread about my Havoc ESC's problem being solved. It was not my venom battery. The problem got allot worse and finally my ESC failed. first my blue and amber stuck on for a longer period of time then what I stated in my other post before, yet the motor temp was only 89 degrees f. I got bumped during the race and then it shut down showing blue amber and red. Had no throttle until I turned it on and off but still the blue and amber light stuck on. Again motor temp is only 89 degrees . took car home and let it sit over night and turned it on only to see that the blue and amber and red lights stuck on still, yet I have throttle. I also have a couple more people in my race club that are having premature motor thermal shutdown problem. We checked all the normal things like drag brake and other ESC setup parameters. ESC'c are cutting out between 89 to 140 degrees yet your manual says the motors should be geared up until you get to temperature of 160-175 degrees.None of us are even near this. I'm sorry but there is just to many of the Havoc's cutting out prematurely out there. What is Novak going to do to solve this problem besides making us all pay to send our ESC in to be fixed?? We are past denying there's a problem with them as I've seen it with my own eyes on ,at least 3 besides my own.. I 've packed up the ESC and sent it to you but I feel It's not right that I have to pay to ship it to you to be fixed for a faulty product. At the end of the day, I ended up paying MORE for my ESC then the guy who bought one and it worked! I don't see why it should cost me more money to own a faulty one. Again, to many are failing to say they are isolated incidents . I'm a little frustrated as it taking me 5 weeks to get to the bottom of the problem. Didn't want to blame it on a brand new ESC so I checked everything else. Even with talking to Novak who wanted to blame my battery first.
I've been racing off and on for a good 20 years. Always used Tekins back long ago and then used LRP ESC when Tekin took a break. This is my first venture into using Novak products and I can say that I am not happy. I realize shipping is only 5 bucks but its the principle of I'm talking about. We put our trust in you when we buy your products to sell us a GOOD product. I think its a poor business practice to charge customers ANYTHING MORE for faulty products. It's already costing us the inconvenience of lost time and in my case, missing out on the USVTA nationals that cost me 50.00 bucks to sign up for and looks like I won't get my ESC in time to make the race. Unless I want to pay for expedited shipping and thus costing me even more money to own your product. At the very least you could expedite the return shipping ,on your bill, to try and make up for having us buy products that perhaps should have spent more time in testing and to minimize anymore lost race days. I'm not trying to say all you make is bad products. but every company can have a "bad lot" of something made. Just own up to it and make it right.

I have to agree, When I had to send mine back I insured it and it was close to $10.00 and then as you can see from the post that the repair was not expedited and I missed a total of 3 racing weekends not counting the ones that the shutdown problems occurred. I am grateful that the problem appears to be fixed but the time and expense was and still is very frustrating, No offer or discounts or anything was offered And to be honest I was a little disappointed but life goes on and we go outside into the warm soon so life is good!!!!!

So my question is this, Is the shut down problem fixed or not??? I want another BL set-up and you can't beat the price of the havoc system. I've been an orange guy for over 20 years and have never seen Novak have a problem like this.

For a while I thought I was lucky that I had no problems with my Havoc Spec. That is until Wed. After 8 minutes of a great run around the track, my T4 started making a whirring noise. A few minutes later the car stopped. Goodbye ESC. The temp was only 128 degrees, which is way below overheating. I put in another battery, still nothing. I tried to reset the ESC several times. On the third try, my Nihm started smoking, literally. Not only was it goodbye ESC it was goodbye $50 Nihm battery. I sent it back to Novak that same day. We'll see what happens.

I have the havoc and have had no problems with it. I have only race 4 times with it since i got the havoc. I read that people seemed to have problems with it because they changed it from the factory settings. On my havoc I only have changed the lipo cut off and the power of the motor. I hope some of my information helps.
