Hi guys, I ran my CRC Carpet Knife with a CO27 the weekend but I find gearing it right is hard. I'm gearing it too long, but thats what I normally geared the motor at. It didn't even get hot?

Is it different when gearing on a 1:1 ratio?

And then I'll be running it with a 10T Brushed mod motor this weekend... Can someone please give me a suggested gearing combo?! I've got a 98T Spur in the car, so what pinion? Thanks

Depending on the track, the motor might not get that hot at all. If you're running on a pretty open, flowing track there's not a lot of starting and stopping which means less stress on the motor. A tighter track will heat the motor more. Gear for fast lap times and keep an eye on the motor just in case. It sounds like you won't have any heat issues though. What are you geared at right now with the CO27? I was running a 19 turn brushed motor geared 34/98, was within 2 laps of dumping each run and the motor was just a little warm after each run. Just because it's not getting burning hot doesn't mean you're not running it at max Hope that helps.

Cool, thanks. It ran really well!!! I was racing a guy with a 3.5 BL motor and he only lapped me three times in 8 minutes, haha

I geared it 25/98.

But how should I gear the 10Turn mod motor then?

I have no idea I've only run the 19 turn motor in my 12th scale, we didn't have a mod class at my old track.

I think you have wheelbase mixed up with track

The question should have been in the 10R5 section where you can adjust the wheelbase (the distance between the front and rear axles) as opposed to track which is the width of the front axles (or at least the gap between the front wheels)

Depends on the track, rear tire size, and your speed control. I've been running my 10.5 with 40/76. That translates to a 51 or 52 given your 98 spur.

I kind of know the difference between wheelbase and track, but I was not sure that the guy who asked the question knew the difference, as he was asking for the front wheelbase.

So for wheelbase longer should be more stable but harder to turn into corners.

Hi guys, could anyone tell me if the motor pod plates from a Gen X fit in the carpet knife lower pod plate holes? I hope that makes sense! Cheers.

over 1,301,115 views since first post, is 1/12 racing really big now? I used to race 1/12 back in mid and late 90s, but TC took over when ROAR & IFMAR started sedan class.
