u have my support for buying a big block instead of expensive mod's...
but harry is right, the 3 SS REALLY doesn't like any other engine.
i had one,it's difficult to tune, difficult to drive if u have too much power.

I love watching my lil MTX2 smoke the big block outlaws!(Down the straights) However I'm thinking bout doing the same thing just to see if I could get one to handle. The design I am working on is to lay the big block on its side getting that all important C.G. back! It will surely eat up tiers but what the h#!! If I can produce a big block 1/10 that will do a traction roll I will be loven life...................."OUTLAWS god bless em"

Hello all,
I was hoping to get some help with a few questions. I have searched the forum and have not found the answer i was looking for. I recently purchased the RS4 3 around 3 weeks ago. Already i am looking to upgrade it. My first question is what tuned pipe should i go with? I keep hearing different stuff from different people about what to get, so ive turned to you, the experts. Also what else should i upgrade right away seeing as i am new to nitro rc's. Thanks alot for all your help and congrats on running a great forum.

I am having the older version of the RS4-3
Nothing too special added on it.
Apart from the HD diff gear ,HD pinion and HD outdrive everything is much left stock.
Meantime I am running an old Kyosho Super Ten pipe. (the one in red colour). Power band is a lot better as compared to the composite tuned pipe.
I also changed to the clutch type 2 speed after my finger style 2 speed tranny gave way.
I really like running this car and handling is very neutral and really hard to swap ends. (which is a good thing)
Oh yes, you have to get some pinions and spurs if you are running in a medium to large track.. The standard gearing is too low.. I am running 41-37 with 18-22.. Seems fine for my track...

Yes, You will want to geat the heavy duty diff gears. Until I did I was changing them every 2 to 3 weekends. My RS4 3 was a rtr
and is now About 3 years old so I an sure there are some differences. I put the wolven graphite shock towere on and threaded shock bodies, so much more adjustable now. I like the MIP cvd's on it to. Don't need to replace as many out drive cups.
Have lots of fun!

Actually I wanted to get the nylon front and rear arms as the kit's arms were quite soft and flex a lot.... But time doesn't permit it (race was near during that time) so I ended up getting aluminium arms for my girl.... So far not having any problem with it and it is really tough... No flexing as well...
CVD is a great investment too...
HD diff... a must have..

My SS was good bone stock, but always room for improvement. I have added the THS pipe, the Hot Bodies upper deck, and front CVD kit, and a 5 cell flat rx battery pack. It definately corners better now (especially after adding the front CVD kit.
