The low profile Tamiya mini 60D slicks feel like cs27's. Maybe that would be a better option and you can say less work. Also, isn't the type A's taller[compared to the cut up cs27] and would provide better speed coz of the diameter of the tire itself.I prefer the HPI mini x pattern. Great tire life,just the right bite but seems to loose speed on the straights because of it being a smaller diameter compared to the Tamiya A's. Any input on this. Man, this car has been around for years but feels like we still have a lot to learn about setting it up for certain track. Most fun I have on any rc car I ever owned. Racenut since we're both not going to the TCS, do you want to run mini at Salinas sunday?

I went to Salinas on sunday.You missed out Bro!I ran both expert sedan stock with the evo3 and Sportman stock with the mini M03.
Lets say the Sportman guys were not happy getting whipped up on by a mini cooper that for sure.I set tq pace in both rounds but they made me run without a transponder in the main and start from the back.I finished second unofficially.They kept purposely taking me out.It was so much fun watching that thing get punted.I was a lap off pace with the Expert stock guys with the Mini.Not bad for a car thats front wheel drive and at a destinct disadvantage.Everyone thought it was one of those 1/12th scale sedans at first but were shocked when they actually picked the car up.Anyways,call me when you get a chance.

found this thread while searching for a different topic. all I can say is I bought a tamiya mini right after reading thru this thread! now to set it up and have fun! Used to race a real mini in our local classic car races and been really missing it since i sold it three years ago.
question, is the mini cva shock already good enough to race or do i need the aluminum ones. thanks!

The mini cva shocks are very good and majority that people use. I like the aluminum with the white pistons. More smoother and consistent damping[I think]. Have fun, I got lots of cars and am a collector and my favorite is my mini cooper. Durable,after the first few hopups the only expenses I spend is batteries,tires and fee for racing.

thanks for the response sipaboy. would anyone know if the m-chassis slick tires are any good? they don't list any compound info. its diameter is smaller than the super grips which is approx 60mm in dia this one is around 56mm. part no is 53215. would these be good enough to race or practice with. thanks

I am interested in getting a Mini Cooper - probably kit #58211.

I am thinking of hopping it up.

Sorry if these questions have been asked before...

1) What size bearings does this kit need? All 5 x 11s? How many?

2) If anyone has time, can they list me the size and number of screws from this kit?

If I get an aftermarket screw kit, is there anywhere on the chassis or car where a BUTTON HEAD screw would not be able to fit where a self-tapping screw exists? Maybe a tight recess in a chassis? I am wanting a stainless steel screw kit for it, with a preference for buttonheads.

1) - you need 12 of 5x11 (Tamiya 1150 part #53008) and 2 of 5x8 (Tamiya 850 part #53030)
2) - there's such a lot of odd size step screws, screw pins, 2.6mm screws etc in the kit that its probably best just to use the kit ones and just replace the 10mm tapping screws with SS button heads if you wish - you'd need 43.
