Tamiya mini cooper

I think the idea is to keep mini class different, if you allow touring car shells to run then it becomes just a touring car class so why bother having it. There are already 5 other classes catering for that.

I would never run a tc shell in mini class because as you said there are 5 other classes for that

the difference is the grip
standard tyres are ok, M-grips have Medium Grip, S-tyres have Super Grip .. well maybe not super, better then M-grip anyway
I had a competition yesterday in our Belgian Tamiya Competition. Everybody had problems with rear traction (also other classes) ... I ended up with M-grips in the front and S-grips on the rear and that worked just fine.

I also tried the A-slicks this weekend, and the S-grips still performed better on the carpet.
One thing I know for sure: on asfalt, when raining: best tyres are brand-new A-slicks (they may never have been treated with additive.)
I do not know why. I should have thought the M and S-grip who have some profile, should perform better on moist surface.
But it was a trick a well-experienced Tamiya-pilot told me and it really works.

Guys,
Which inserts goes well with the S-grip and M-grips? the Tamiya black sponge hard one?
edit: searched more throughly, looks like the 60D insert and a cut up touring car insert.
How do the S and M grip stack up against X-patterns for asphalt, in terms of handling and durability?
