Default solid motor for 1/10 onroad sportsman club

i've been out of the onroad scene for 5 years and at that time, everyone, including myself, was running mtx-3's and mt12's or cx12's. i picked up a used nt1 and when i searched for motors, i was surprised at how expensive everything got. i plan to run mostly practice and the occasional club race at the sportsman level so i don't need to purchase a race-tuned motor. is there an sg shaft/rear exhaust motor out there with ~1hp, usable torque, and priced at $150 +/- 15? i would say the track i plan to run on is short to medium sized with med/hi traction.

thanks for your help

chris

Hello,
Check out the JLR Picco Evo 3 @ this website http://www.kamikazetoysandhobbies.co...p?prod=51124-3

Very affordable, Very fast, Very Reliable. As far as HP. It comes in just shy of the 1.7 HP mark. Most of the engines now are "Rated" around 1.6 and up.
I ran this engine all season long. I have had 2 of them. One I used only for the last few races of the season due to a failure of my first one. (my own fault, I never changed the connecting rod and it broke) I am selling the one i used for the last few races of the year so I can pick up a tuned or modified version for next season.

Novarossi based motors are still about as good as it gets but they are still pricey as well. The Picco based motors are the best bang for the buck on the planet. So for a budget racer the JLR is king.

Also take a look to the JP First Line motors if you want Novarossi quality.
