Exclamation Different rubber tree Plant?

My understanding is the rubber compound is different and until they come up with a solution to compensate the new rubber, all new tires coming out of Japan will be affected. Good example of that is Tamiya tires for the mini 60-D's are not holding up as well as last years. This was the consensus from all the racers at TCS here in Calif. Now I hear that the new batch for the sedan's (B3's) the compound may be different also. So there you have it! RP's are no different and Sorex if also from Japan will be affected. Not sure about Much More's or Jaco's. I guess only time will tell!
Just my 2$

Ahhh...foam tires on carpet doesn't seem so bad anymore

I raced with Schreffler and Fairtrace this past weekend and can verify that all cars (Xray, Losi, Corally, Tamiya) were peeling the new RP30's. Of course, not all of us are grand setup masters of touring cars on rubber tires

Looks like it's all SOREX for me until the annouce the tire for the Reedy. I talked to quite a few racers that raced them at the Marin track yesterday and from what they had to say I'd save my money because the new batch isn't the batch we all fell in love with

Fascinating, thanks for the tip.....

Adrian,

I have much respect for your previous posts on a number of topics on these forums; but, you are absolutely off base about this topic.

Everyone (yes everyone) running new RP-30s at NorCal Hobbies asphalt track today suffered unbelievable tire wear at 2-3 minutes of a 5 minute run with 13.5, 10.5 and mod motors. And the failures included sponsored racers in all the TC classes. Outside temp was about 60-65 degrees F with track temp never exceeding 95 degrees F during the day.

Otherwise, my Phi had no issues when shod with older RP-30s from a few months ago.

I have returned my unused packages of "new" RP-30s to NorCal Hobbies for a refund. Hopefully, this is only a batch problem; but, I am amazed that it is happening with a product that I previously regarded as "the best".

Yes, I did also experience problems with out-of-round sets Jacos at the Omaha Nats too.

Bill
