They're all great cars. I don't think you'd be able to go wrong whichever you chose, as you long as you can find parts for the car you select where you'll be racing. I know parts availability isn't the issue it once was, but I try to get all my parts and supplies at the track where I race. It's my way of helping keep the place going, and I don't mind spending a little extra over mail order prices. You can't race by mail if the track goes out of business...

The 9650 is a great servo, and any 1/12 car that comes with holes already drilled for a servo will be an exact fit. I run the JRz3650, but as far as I know the CRC GenX is the only car of the ones you've mentioned that has holes predrilled for the JR as well as the Futaba (Airtronics and KO 1/12 scale servos fit the same pattern as the 9650) The BMI >might<, but I don't know for sure.

1. CRC Gen X
2. CEFX Phoenix
3. BMI DB12R
4. Associated 12R5 (when it comes out in March)

I just started racing 1/10 touring cars with rubber (TC5). Would like something that is practical, easy to work on for a new-comer, competitive, and possible different/unique for adjustments. I will be running primarily on a medium/high-bite carpet track. Running outdoors may be nice for the future.

Also, what servos do you recommend. I was looking into the Futaba S9650.

They're all GREAT cars. I personally run a Gen. X with a 9650 servo. No complaints about the car or the servo. Trips is right, the Gen. X will accomodate all the popular servos without any drilling. The car's as fast as anything else out there and CRC's customer service and support are second to none. The best advice I can give is to see what's popular at your track, what spares are on the shelf, and go from there.

The CRC Gen X is the most popular car and has the best hobby shop support. Looks like I am gonna be going in that direction.

What brushless ESC is recommended? I was debating between the GTB 4-cell, LRP Brushless+Brushed, or the LRP 2007 Competition. I will only be running a 19T brushless motor. Dont want to spend an arm and a leg but just want something that is competitive.

I chose the novak brusless system because they sell theirs in a dedicated 4 cell version with speedo and motor combo for a nice price. and the best part, flawless performance and no worries about compatability problems. i've been very happy with mine (which came with their 10.5 motor that's about the same speed as a fast 19 turn brushed motor but far less maintenance intensive......ie no maintenance required)... It's a simple plug and play system.

Default lipo receiver pack

anyone out there tried to run one of the muchmore lipo receiver packs? and if so did you need to run any sort of voltage regulator or can you run them straight at full voltage?

where does one go to find 1/12 scale sedan bodies, not the xray or yok sedans, but one that would go nicely on a 1/12 scale pan car. or just any body options other then the current crop of wedge bodies.
thanks in advance

you will need a voltage regulator or something will let the magic smoke out of the box and no longer work. i have seen some small voltage regulators at my track but I don't know who makes it. I personally use the losi one on my nitro truck. 2250... IT LASTS! lol

I chose the LRP Comp 2007 this time around because it does brushless and lipo.

Since its hard to get ahold of the Hot Bodies shock, how about the new IRS macro shock.

the 4-cell GTB is not made for lipo. so if you ever want to experiment with lipo in ur car, that'd be a no go deal at 7.4v anyway.

I haven't seen any 1/12 sedan bodies, but you might look at 1/12 oval bodies if you want to get away from the GTP/prototype "wedge" look...
