Spektrum

Did you try a different motor? If a capacitor isn't functioning it can create rf disturbance. I ran into a problem with this once upon a time, though not with the Spektrum.
Only thing I can think of, because you say the radio/receiver worked in a different car and a different servo was tried.
Perhaps have a friend with a Spektrum-equipped radio bind to the receiver in the car and see if it has the same problem with HIS transmitter?

I'm trying an external capacitor to stop glitching and drop outs at my indoor carpet track. The glitch only happens under full brake and/or acceleration. Most of the time its a momentary stutter in acceleration or deceleration, but once every 6-7 races, after the start tone just before the first corner, the car completely shuts off throttle (steering is OK). I have to reset the receiver by turning the switch off and on. A couple of guys at the same track have had the same thing happen to them.
I have tried 3 receivers, 2 modules, 2 transmitters, 2 servos and different batteries and motors. I'm kind of at a loss... so this is the last resort. If it doesn't work, I'll probably go back to PPM FM....

Well.... so far so good. Still a slight little stutter in the throttle coming onto the main straight... I think the problem lies with the ESC, so I'll be sending it in for repairs!

Heey Jrxs-R.. I'm a little lazy, so haven't read the previous posts, but have you tried a capacitor on the Rx and the ESC at the same time... I had some problems with stuttering on full throttle, and when I put a cap on both the Rx and the ESC the problem was solved..

Hi All....
Yeah, I do have a 4700uf 16v cap on the RX, and a 2200uf 16v cap on the ESC. The ESC is a NOSRAM Matrix Evo 2007. Similar to the LRP Sphere.
Without the cap on the RX, it would loose signal lock occasionally under full brakes. The car would then be left without throttle, but with steering works. And the car would stutter under full power for a micro-second coming onto the main straight. The stutter happens on almost every lap.
Now with the cap on the RX, in the 4 runs that i have had so far, I haven't lost signal lock yet, but the stutter still happens... but much better...

I'm currently using the LRP 13.5, and i have swapped it over to the Novak 13.5SS, and still the same... I'm wondering if it is the speedy. I might try swapping over to my spare Sphere (1st edition) and see how it goes.

I think the SPM1600 Voltage Protector is similar to what I am currently using. I am not sure if the SPM1600 is a normal capacitor or a low-ESR one. Mine's a low-ESR cap. I have also tried the SR3000, SR3001 and SR3500 RXs and they all seem to do the same.
This is a problem that I still cannot solve. I do appreciate the time you guys take to help.

A bit off topic from the current postings, I was wondering if there is a huge difference between the Pro Module Tx/Rx sets and the Original Set of Tx/Rx?
The reason I ask, I currently use a M11 with the original set of Tx/Rx on my electric TC and nitro TC. Although I had to swap out the Rx on my electric TC with the micro series to fit my BL set-up (Novak GTB...haven't had any issues with it, in relation to what was being discussed on the previous posts) and alot of my race buddies who also use the M11 have been switching over to the Futaba 3PKS 2.4ghz FASST system and said the system is quicker that the previous Tx/Rx they had especially on their nitro TC...
I've thought of doing the same as well but I have invested so much on the specktrum Rx (coz I currently have 3 cars) and spending a lot of $$$ just to switch is not my plan. I thought of just getting the Futaba Tx only & purchase the spektrum Tx/Rx set that was released ($350 - $400) or just get the Pro Module Tx/Rx set for my M11 ($140 - $180). I'm leaning towards to just get the M11 Pro Module set since I don't need to purchase another Pro series Rx coz I already have the mirco on my electric TC.
Would the upgrade to the Pro Module set for my M11 be better than my original set-up and also is it comparable to the Futaba 3PKS 2.4ghz FASST system?
Thanks for any help you guys could provide.

That might be a good idea, I am using a 3,5 when I had the stuttering (without the cap), but even with a 4,5 I had no stuttering at all, even without, so with a 13,5 you should not have any problems at all, than probably it's just the speedo.. so swapping with the Sphere would be a good test..
