Since this will cost, you really want to make it pay right from the start.
The hobby store is a good start, also a good food and drink stand will help here.
Without getting too specific, what sorta money are you spending on setup and how much will racing there cost the man in the street?
Is it going to be a membership type place like Moorebank or more informal like Castle Hill?
You could have both, I'd happily pay to play on a big, decent track.
Alternatively, I'd gladly help out in any other way to keep it running smoothly.
You need a name for this track, a domain name for the website and you need to get that organised and ready as soon as it opens. This will help to advertise it to all and sundry and make it common knowledge all over the place.
(not everybody has heard of rctech.net so they know nothing of this)

There are many many things involved in setting up a venture of this kind. Hopefully with the right initiative, backing, and involvement from racers (the people who will make it successful) this will be a great venue.
Cant wait to get a chance to race.
I feel confident to say that myself and my friends are available for input anytime, come down and introduce yourself.

I'll try to cover the recent queries as best I can...here goes.
1) To run Nitro in the car park is not feasible...for a couple of reasons, mainly because its too rough a surface, meaning BIG expansion joints, it leaves nowhere to park our real cars, it an odd shape. No matter how you laid it out, you couldnt see your car all the way through a lap.
2) I've read the dream track forum, & I think my cost would go up even more in hiring security gaurds hat I would need when you combine alchahol, men & topless female turn marshals
3) Fusion - It is probably not appropriate to discuss the $$$ publically, I hope you understand. I can say though, that the lease alone in over $40k a year at this stage. The cost to race will be comparable to what people pay now, avge $10 per class. Again, this may change a little, but thats the figure we are aiming for. About your other points, yes you are right, but things need to happen in a certain order. I need to be sure that we dont put the cart before the horse, but your comments are noted, Thankyou.
4) Brad, we have now spoken. Im sure you have a better idea of my intended approach. I assume your post was before our conversation?

Just thought of another race night possibility, how about a rally cross style of racing similar to the UK, jumps, ripples strips, fake grass, whoops up sections, cobblestone sections, you could run both rally cars as well as normal offroad cars.
combine this with a 12th scale, mini every over fortnight, and a friday night tourer meet and you would have 2 decent size maeetings a week
I love the idea of offroad racing with no mess. and a consistent surface.

Good idea.As far as turnouts go, what do you consider a "decent" size?
Some thought & consultation will be required to determine the best nights for points score etc, as opposed to open nights.

I would take it that a normal castle hill night is a decnt size, not sure how many this is but i would say in the region of 80 entries.
i would expect this of a friday night, hurstville used ot have a wed night, but i dont believe it ever attracted these type of numbers, maybe looking at 30-40.
with open practice at a fee during the week, and a couple of nights.
Also run a sunday meeting say every fortnight, i would expect 80-100 entries at these.

I would suggest a layout that will give you only around four layouts. And name them so people know what to expect in the way of gearing and setup. Hurstville was good but boring, just like morebank, it's the same every week for years on end and you get bored with it.
if only around four track were used say one track for 2 - 3 months it would give you enough time to get a setup and track knowledge. then it changes to achive a new challange to the drivers. then just repeat the process and you will be bale to keep track records on racetimes and lap times.
It sounds great and just like the field of dreams. "Build it and they willl come".
Coxy.
