I hadn't heard about them and then I looked at my car and realised I had them.

Now that I've moved to the inside hole on the arm in the rear, it will be interesting to see how it goes.

How do you all set preload? Do you worry about whether the spring is free when the car is off the ground, and set your droop accoringly? By free I mean a little bit of play up and down.

Speedo,

preload: two things to take into account
1- Tweak
2- ground clearance

Assuming that the drop screws are not useless (ie that they indeed limit the suspension travel) and are already adjusted symmetrically, the way I do is
1- unscrew the shock collars to the max first,
2- put the car on a stand in order to have the suspension fully eytended,
3- screw each shcok collar separately until it touch the spring.
This procedure is applied to compensate for the usual unequal SPRING length (very common on AE springs).
4- take the car off the stand and make sure the chassis doesn't drag on the ground
5- put the car on a tweak (4-scale board)
6- fiddle with the shock collars until the readings are correct
7- then I adjust ride height on each end of the car by modifying the preload symmetrically left and right

A trick to help adjust symmetrically in step 7 is to make one or several marks with a magic marker on the shcok collar, to help you count how many turns you turn each of them. I also recommend counting them loud... believe me, it helps...

Although it is not optimal not to have a symmetrical ride height left and right, it happens on TC3's with tweaked chassis (like mine), I believe it's better to have assymmetrical L/R ride height and a correctly set L/R tweak compensation with preloads and okay droop screws, than a perfectly flat car which will track sideways...

now for the springs "floating" on the shock body, we discussed it below. It is very common especially with stiff springs, but you should not worry about it.

Later

Paul

Default Cleveland race!!

anyone know of anything new the Associated drivers are doing this year on the cars, for the cleveland race???
i know about:
shaving the spine, for inner batery placement
using losi steering blocks
using losi rear uprights for less toe -in
rear tower in the front.... curently using stock on indoor carpet.
F -block for the front/ rear mount.

Is the solid axle the way to go still??

if anyone has info please post..

Look for the NTC3 steering rack, modified NTC3 shock towers F&R, and some may have Losi rear shock towers glued/bolted to the outside of the modified NTC3 rear shock tower. I have seen all of these at one point or another, just depends on how they perform in Cleveland during qualifing.

Speedo,

as guessed by Kevin, it's a cow... Having lived in Texas and now living in Switzerland, which both are states with a strong cattle and dairy image, I figured out it was pretty appropriate!

Have a good WE yall

Cleveland: GO A-TEAM !!!

Default Josh's TC-3

I hope someone pins his cammera down on Cyruls TC-3.
Man is he driving a Losi TC-3 or something?
Every race more and more non (e)TC-3 parts show up in his ride...
He is in serious doubt it seems LOL.... (Losi vs AE)

On the Team Orion site a few pics are shown.
But I'ld really like some good close-ups!!!
