Team EAM battery weight tolerances
#1
I've noticed a recent batch of Team EAM 7000 batteries are significantly heavier than an earlier batch. Both of mine were an early batch and weigh 273g and 275g respectively. One of my fellow racers received a pack from a more recent batch, and it's significantly heavier, around 295g (he also has one from an earlier batch, which is in the 275 range). This seems rather unusual, and for racers under BRCA or similar rulesets that have a 4% weight tolerance, this would make such a pack illegal for sanctioned racing. Has anyone else noticed such a big discrepancy with their pack weights?

I remember seeing somewhere (facebook maybe?) that Eric mentioned they have 2 different suppliers for their new packs. The batteries with the larger chrome numbers on them are from one supplier, and the labels with the smaller matte/white numbers are from a different supplier. I believe all of their older batteries were from the ladder supplier, and the chrome ones are new from this year. Are the two types you have with different stickers?
But hopefully EA see's this and can chime in.

It is like when you buy blanco CDR's from certain brands and you read out the actual manufacturer code. Brands who are not CDR manufacturers will have different codes for the same CDR. Basically it is the same with LiPo, you get a case but they never gonna tell what they did put inside. Highly they are newer type cells or cells from a different manufacturer.

Those have always been from the same manufacture and high unusual that they vary in weight like that! I have not seen any that Ive had come into the USA vary like that!
I'll send an email to the factory now and find out what the deal is. The ones down under come from my Asian distributor and they do the QC there before shipping out. Unsure how they missed this though!
Sorry for the issue!

I had the factory pull all the weights, yes they weigh every pack in every batch, of the last two. And I checked the submitted forms to BRCA and EFRA. The average weight in the last 3 batches of packs (400 packs) Sent to the Asian distributor is 286g. With high of 293g and low of 279g. The submitted weight for efra was 280g. Which makes the upper end very close to the limit and some over. Ive asked the factory to ensure that all future shipments be in the correct range and do a better QC on these and others to ensure we remain compliant for what was submitted.
If you or your friend has some that will cause issues with legality please send me a PM and I can get them replaced for you.
Sorry for the issue but we will ensure to do a better job on this!

I collected my 3 today. Their IR values are super constant and possibly the lowest I have seen (using Ichargers).
The weight is a bit disappointing as they are a fair amount over the advertised weight range (274-279g) and it is one of the reasons why I chose these batteries.
284.1g
287.1g
289.0g
On a positive note also picked up a 6000mah shorty and it is right in the weight range at 226.5g.
