TLR 22-4 2.0 Race Kit Thread!

Another update on the ghost thread
I finally got the last parts for my build ,
The rear 2.0° toe block and a fresh set of wheels / tires.
The look of that buggy is a timeless classic

The now rare toe block (had to import it from France of all places...)

A good look at the final setup !
In my previous post I forgot to mention I'm running RPM rod ends on the steering rod , the original open TLR design is a little weak and creates play overtime.

Old school decals because XX4 always sounded better than 22-4 and to troll a little bit...

Fresh set of Schumacher rubber and DE racing which is the last company still making front wheels in the correct offset...

Final race weight : 1659g , sure , 71g heavier than the minimum but I didn't go crazy on the weight saving yet and still using stainless screws.
So really not that bad for such a dense design.
Next up is a shakedown at my local track once they reopen

It wasn't as forgiving as the newer stuff mainly because of the lack of a center diff but with the slipper correctly adjusted it took out the ''shimmy'' when landing a little off. I've ran the exotek slipper eliminator and while it accelerated faster it made the car more upset on tricky landings and woops sections.
I'm just waiting on some last-minute parts to go and test it

Another update for anyone who cares about an old not-vintage chassis
I found this and just had to have it, Exotek steering link for a spare and an Exotek motor clamp.
The clamp will most likely not do anything, but I just think it's cool looking.

Now I'm just hoping for a little free time to go to the track

Im still hunting for a front carbon tower…

This was my foray into modern buggies, Big bore shocks and nostalgia belt drive. This thing is so cool! Drove it on carpet a few times and it was so smooth. There is also a few 3D printed pieces in there for wire management, fan mount and ESE mount.

I couldn't bring myself to modify the chassis like Dakota.

For some reason Exotek re-released the 22-4 2.0 Aluminium front pivot block (1765)
22-4 2.0 Aluminum Front Pivot Block-1765

So if anyone was hunting for one of these, here you go.

Another update on the ghost thread !
Finally had time to try the 22-4 on the carpet. It went much better than I thought. Plenty of rotation, super stable jumping and only a little bit of traction roll when I was not careful.
The only change I ended up making was lowering it to 15mm and it helped the traction roll alot. Lap times were good, it drove smooth and planted. I honestly didn't expect that at all.
I was expecting to fight the setup more but it just worked out really well.
Could it win a ROAR national? Absolutely not, but can it be competitive on a club racing level, I really think so yes.
No breakage whatsoever, I slammed the curbs pretty hard while I got used to it but nothing to report.

It ran a little warm and I could've used one more teeth on the pinion but I'll try to fit a fan and see if that helps

Thanks Frank ! Always cool to have insights from the people that made and raced that chassis
